After Princess Celestia was overthrown, a new government is established. Renamed the United Republic of Equestria.
For ignoring the early warnings of the False Candace and Trixie’s arrival and allowing those events to take place as the result, and for covering up the truth behind Princess Luna’s transformation to Nightmare Moon.
As the result, the ponies who found out the truth lost faith in her and (with the help of human technology) lead a revolution which absorbed all of Equestria and overthrown Celestia.

I have not, but it’s possible; I trace my lineage to Germans, French, and Irish; it’s possible my fore runners fought alongside the General and his men, but it’s more likely they immigrated after America’s founding.
