Evil. Naughty. Conniving. Plotting. Menacing. If they had little handlebar mustaches, they would twist the end and snicker as they tie ponies to train tracks.
For the big end page, I wanted the “over there” versions of the princesses to have shadowy uplighting, and a dramatic look. Theyre whispering about putting a dead fish in the air conditioner of your car. Yeah THAT evil.

Fun fact: That comment was a light-hearted joke. The only reason why I got so far as to actually criticize them was because of people like you who can’t just ignore some random asshole on the Internet, as if me voicing my dislike on something somehow magically makes you dislike something that you like.
And cute, you criticize my obsessive hatred towards Reflections while slipping in some Trixie hatred of your own for no reason whatsoever, hello Mr. Kettle I’m Pot. You’re black.
And no, I don’t give a fuck about Trixie.
oh for Christ’s sake, GET OVER IT. You can whine your fanboy hearts out all day, some of us enjoyed this book. But beyond that, someone posts an image they enjoy, and you have to come and turn it into something negative?? I’m gonna gamble you love Trixie too. Exactly her attitude.
Huh.
That’s actually a very interesting parallel.
However, I insist I’m quite sure Andy Price is a fan of Richard Corben.
I’ll tell you how: Shitty writing.
I mean, the arc as a whole is poorly written, Occam’s Razor and all.
And yeah, I think now we know why Black Brad sucks so hard. Whereas Sombra was an evil, intelligent, and resourceful overlord who got dealt a crappy deck when he returned from the void, Black Brad is good, but an incompetent nincompshit who can’t deal with a Class B Threat even though he has massive defensive magic potential, as well as a dimensional shifter and the Queen of emotional vampires on his payroll.
Well… perhaps I can say I’m applying that with Evilestia and Eviluna. But yeah, how in the hay do you have a Superhero and a Love Queen at your service and yet your kingdom is going to shit thanks to just a couple of villains?
Speaking of Sombra, it’s good to see somebody else defend the guy. Yes, he barely speak, and yes he as barely onscreen unlike Discord. BUT the fact that he slaved a whole Empire, was able to curse it to banish alongside him, actually hid the one thing that could stop him cleverly, set up traps to prevent anyone from taking it AND even with that he was barely defeated out of probably sheer luck are proof that he was not only a competent but also a smart villain.
…In retrospect that could explain why alt!Sombra was such a crappy ruler.
And before you say anything about Sombra being my favorite villain, here’s the thing: Sombra’s a mystery. We never saw him in action, and we never saw how his personality was like. He was literally incapable of doing anything because the love shield burned him to the touch, and that only fell down when it was too late for him to do anything. His prowess as a villain is entirely up to imagination, and my imagination rocks when it comes to villainy.
No, I mean the fact that Evilestia and Eviluna dress like idiots.
And thing is, good campy villains still come off as menacing. Discord was very, very, very campy back when he was a bad guy, but he still came off as a credible threat. Because he actually DID bad things instead of just saying that he did.
>And I do recall that while the Mane 6 barely touched them, they landed hard attacks on them.
No, I distinctly recall that the Mane Six were able to land several hits that actually hurt them, as evidenced by Celestia feeling the punches.
And that’s the thing, if they’re so powerful that Black Brad, with all his resources (Like, say, A SUPERHERO DISCORD), can’t do shit against them, they should be able to blow the Mane Six away like they weren’t even there. Hell, they wouldn’t have listened to Black Brad’s bullshit “we can’t fight here! There are rules to this engagement!”.
More like a mix of “Black Brad is a shitty ruler” and “Evilestia and Bloodluna actually do shit.”
And if by silly you mean how intentionally edgy Luna looks and that odd moment of Evilestia leaving all fashioned up, come on! Aren’t some of the best villains a little campy on their acts? And I do recall that while the Mane 6 barely touched them, they landed hard attacks on them.
And yeah, it’s true that all their evil acta were either expositioned or just referenced in the backgrounds, and yeah that’s the biggest sin of all the arc.
How were they menancing? They looked silly, they acted like a grown-up Diamond Tiara, and their so-called evil is all in words, not actions.
SHOW, DON’T TELL. You can tell me all you want about how evil they are and how much of a menace they can be, but if you’re not going to show that shit on-panel, I’m not buying it.
Here’s the thing, if the non-powered Mane Six can land quite a few hits on them, maybe they’re not the kind that would wreck untold devastation on Mirrorquestria. I find it far more likely that the reason why Mirrorquestria looks like the Capital Wasteland after a binge of cherry-flavored Kool-Aid is that Black Brad is just a shitty ruler.
I know this arc was filled with as many flaws as Celestia in-story, but the villains weren’t one. I mean, not only were they menacing, but it was implied they were the reason mirror!Canterlot was so crappy. Heck, it’s implied they destroyed Cloudsdale!
Haha joke’s on them I don’t have a car.
“They’re whispering about putting a dead fish in the air conditioner of your car. Yeah… THAT evil.”
Buh-Buh… HE CALLED THEM MENACING! It’s hard to resist the urge to say that Nightmare Moon on a Tutu is more menacing than them!
Just enjoy the art.
It’s not common to see this level of details in a comic (supposedly) for little girls.
