That’s a fairly nice concept. I also quite like the idea that maybe they switched plaecs, and the real human!Sunset is actually wandering around Equestria, possibly without magic even though she’s a unicorn as she has no idea how to even start about casting a spell. xD
If there is only one Sunset Shimmer in the multiverse, does that make her Unicron? If so, does that mean that Twilight is Primus?
That’s the only explanation that really makes any sense.
I’d rather the headcanon that human world Sunset is simply living somewhere else in there, just like human world Twilight is.

At the Sunset Shimmer panel, Jim Miller and Josh Haber were asked about what happened to EQG Sunset Shimmer. I forgot who said what, but one said that Sunset Shimmer killed her EQG counterpart. The other? There is only one Sunset Shimmer in the entire multiverse.
My headcanon is that EQG Sunset Shimmer did die, but Sunset Shimmer was not the cause of it. However, it turns out EQG Sunset Shimmer had parents in the EQGverse and took in Sunset Shimmer.

Why is the human verse suddenly friendlier then pony world, the world that literally staves off destruction through weaponized friendship?

Well, actually I could see how it could make sense, in the context of Sunset being at first overwhelmed by the friendliness of this universe and then over time taking it for granted until she’s just as corrupted as she was in Equestria. Still, I like the other explanation too.
This makes more sense than whatever explanation the movie tried to sell us for this scene. Headcanon Accepted.
(seriously, Sunset was corrupted enough for Celestia to exile her, but then she was nice by the time that left photo happened, and then became evil again over the next two years? nope, not buying it)
Or maybe…the original sunset disposed of the pony one and turned evil!
I know right! It’s so subtle… but it is a powerful character moment!
It shows her progression from an outsider; To understanding the world (or school at least) that she’s become the best; and she knows it! To becoming the aspiring she-demon she was by the start of the movie!
All the while not even realizing that what she’s doing might not be right. The only thing that matters is power!
And that is why she’s my favorite pony vilian! :D
