Most priests focus on AoE using Wild Pyro, and this allows you to proc it a larger number of times without using any important spells. Not to mention the tempo boost this card gives at the same time, which priest sorely needs. Additionally, the text does not state “other” friendly minions, so this card guarantees at least one coin. For what it gives, it’s a solid 6 drop. The stats make it a target, and the effect allows priests to speed up.
And don’t go thinking priests can’t get a well-sized board. If an Injured Blademaster is allowed to snowball out of control, priests will generally have the whole board.
To be fair, common priest decks aren’t known for flooding the board with minions.
Say you have 3 minions on the board, that makes this a 3 mana 5/5, which you can only play after turn 6 (or 5 if you have the coin). It’s not that much of a tempo advantage really.
The potential for being OP is only with other cards that can take advantage of spells being cast, of which there are not many in Priest.

okay, if a priest gets really lucky and thought steals a mana worm from a mage, then shit might happen.
but really, if your getting worried about combos that can only happen if a priest steals something, well…

Rarity is good at finding gems, right? Maybe something like “Battlecry: this turn, gain your opponent’s unspent mana”?
Agree with this. Gaining that many coins could be insane and a mana crystal still fits the flavor.
