Actually, the “first image” of him is on the first panel, with him all the way on the left. The hair being contained isn’t her complaint, but rather, “messy helmet” (which is debunked by the sparkle coming off it).
The armor seems to actually fit very well considering that his tail would help keep some of it in place, and the strap seems to be fastened… though the rear of it isn’t nearly as “snug” as the armor of the pony to his left (oddly enough, Shining Armor’s armor seems about as ill-fitting for HIM, as Flash’s is for himself).
Also, Earth Ponies have an increase in stamina, making them great for long, drawn-out battles.
Also, as shown in the past, certain things (Wendigos, Magic) can actually put Unicorns and Pegasi in more danger than Earth Ponies due to making them prime targets by hostile forces. Want to stop Pegasi and Unicorns? Hailstorm.
Why would they? Seriously, an extra pair of hooves is always useful even if they can’t fly or use magic. No to mention the fact that we have seen examples of earth pony super strength.
No I meant earth pony guards. They seem pretty useless if there are already unicorn and pegasi guards.
We just went over this, the female guards femdom all the male guards.
Just how Equestria rolls.
What use would those be anyway?
That’s something I would like to see, female guards that is. Because from the looks of things all the guards in Equestria and the Crystal Empire are stallions.
Also, earth pony guards, I don’t think we have seen any of those either.
Oddly enough, I just noticed his mane sticking out from under the helmet… that IS kinda messy…
Hm. The thing is, considering how OCD Twilight is at times that may actually be a valid reason.
Messy doesn’t mean “dirty” necessarily, she could just mean that those… bristles (?) are out of place.
Guards nothing, Shining has no idea how to react to this.
Also, “Messy helmet.” sparkle sparkle Just filthy.
And… “Safe”, of all rating tags.
I was going to bring that up, but since Twilight doesn’t seem to be the ruler of anything either it felt like a moot point.
And Shining’s a Prince Consort, not a ruler in his own right.
Considering Princess seems to be the highest title in Equestria and the Crystal Empire, Twilight might still outrank him.
Technically, Shining Armor’s a prince; Cadence and the Crystal Empire and whatnot.
