And others still have a marked preference for different ships-most of ‘em mare/mare. Which is fine, so long as they stick to their lanes & find something to do besides lobbing dud ‘logic’ torpedoes for belligerence’s sake.

Yeppity. With a little logical deduction one can see that the age-gap isn’t that much of an issue given a few years. I think the case is that some take issue more with the species difference (even though it’s fantasy element often explored in fiction) while some others are angered by the waifu-stealing. All facepalm-worthy reasons nonetheless.
That, and back in the mane (groan) ‘verse, Twiley was a kindergartener when she hatched him. I wouldn’t exactly call that a yawning abyss as age-gaps go. That noted, any Spike ship sails best with a timeskip.
