If __ was like __ Clone Wars version in the movie, they would have been better. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that the cartoons didn’t do better, other than some of the podracing and ship to ship combat, and some of Williams’s specific scores. Clone Wars being better doesn’t mean I-III auto-sucked, though; I actually thought most of the acting was pretty good, and Anakin’s actors did a good job of portraying both a bratty precocious genius kid and a socially maladjusted overly-sheltered monklet. It’s not their fault they were shackled to dialogue that clunked like a bad transmission.

They had problems– chief among them: no Han Solo character– but I thought they were pretty good for what they were. There was an awful lot of bandwagoning involved with the fandom rage they inspired, and a lot of arguments against them that could have applied just as easily to Episodes IV-VI. At least the special effects were really good.
