I think I kinda prefer Battlefield over Final Destination honestly, as I feel the three extra platforms give it a more basic structure, and give it more variety of movement/platforming. I guess those “hardecore” SSB fans being fans of fighting games, rather then platformers are probably more used to flat stages with nothing on them. (Though, honestly playing nothing, but those can get boring sometimes, I prefer the normal stages.)
I like how Ultimate has Battlefield varients of every stage, along with the FD versions now. They should’ve done that for WiiU.
Don’t know what you’re talkin about. FoD certainly isn’t the Melee go-to competitive stage, especially given how one-sided it is for certain MUs. That’s still reserved for Battlefield.
Smashville is the (American) Brawl pick because the stage strikes a good balance between offering platform play and being neutral.
Armada’s Peach 4-stocking the best Fox Player on the planet.
Eh, Battlefield has bad edges.
FoD is popular due to better edges, slighty longer platforms(3 as well!).
Brawl’s favorite is Smashville, after all.
I suppose it has something to do with the lack of platform camping?
Ah well. Have you ever seen Armada play Peach by the way? It’s a thing of beauty.
I would’ve thought the “competitive favorite” would’ve been “Battlefield” with it’s generic/basic 4-platform design, and lack of stage hazards. The 3 smaller platforms do make it more ideal for midair attacks, and such.
Final Destination isn’t even the competitive favorite- that would go to Fountain of Dreams.
Heck, some people think FD should be counterpick only, because it gives projectile characters an unfair advantage.
Also funny: Characters used by the top 5 players in the world:
Mango: Fox(+ Falco)
Armada: Peach(+ Young link)
PPMD: Falco(+ Marth)
Hungrybox: Jigglypuff(+Ness)
Mew2King: Sheik(+Marth)
Such only Fox.
Yeah, SSB should be played however you want. Part of SSB’s appeal is how it’s accassable for both casual, and “hardcore” players. (Though, honestly, I hate how the gaming fandom/industry is so split between “casual VS hardcore.” Like people who go, “OMG! I can’t play that game! It’s for casuals!” It’s silly.)
It is kinda neat they’re offering new “Final Destination” levels themed after levels from the game, just so there’s a li’l variety in them.
I don’t understand the mentality of people who bash others that like playing Smash competitively. Not like they’re forcing it onto the casual community. So what if they play on only certain stages like FD or battlefield?Sakurai said smash can be played any way the player wants to play.I swear, casual elitist can be so much more annoying then competitive elitists. And I say this as a casual.
Eh, Fox has other good moves to.
Don’t be dissing the Star Fox here… (Big Star Fox fan personally.)
Real men go with the Falcon.
Well yeah, they can’t take anything away directly, but since Nintendo tried so hard to aim the new one at casuals, everything about the demo just feels hollow. Connecting with an attack, even a final smash, doesn’t shift the stagnancy of excitement. I freaking hated the tournament scene in the previous games after a short time of being a part of them, but at least there was a level of intensity at the end of a good friendly match in those entries of the series. You could argue that the demo isn’t the finished version, but the base they have to build on is so worthless that the finished structure is bound to be severely lopsided at best.
You filthy casual.
No you goodball, he’s bad in the new one.
Besides, who cares about how people enjoy the game? The competitive community doesn’t take ANYTHING away from the casual crowd, and vice versa, so long as you keep your fucking elitism to yourself. Smash is a game anyone can enjoy.
Shut up, moon butt.
“No items, Sword Kirby only, Fountain of Dreams!”
I thought that was funny.
@MagnificentTrixie
I’d have to disagree, Fox McCloud is one of my best SSB characters personally, ever sense the first SSB for N64 days. His “reflector” especially comes in handy.
Also, I think the “Star Fox” series seriously needs more love from both Nintendo & Nintendo-fans… (At least they confirmed a WiiU game is in the works.) Same for F-Zero.
All ‘For Glory’ does is turn off items and turn all stages into Final Destination variants, so you at least get stage background and music variation.
I don’t think I’ve even read any lists of strong looking characters that included Fox actually. You’d think he’d be the guy people would scope out first, right?
I couldn’t agree more. Amen to you
I think there’s an option to just play everything normally with no restrictions anyway, if you wanted to play at Final Destination but with items…
