It just smacks of being tacky, is all. Not that any of us can do anything about it other than voice opinions, anyway.
Unless their marriage broke down or is in the process of breaking down, I think the fact that it was their wedding would be to much of an overriding factor. Especially given that they met in WoW, so that would make the game special even 50 years later.
Besides, the part that actually mattered, the ceremony, stayed traditional and classy. She wore a white gown and veil, he wore a classy tux, and they were officiated by a

Oh, some of us do. It adds a taste of actual class and Old World charm, sort of.
And…yeah, now imagine looking at that in 50 years. Cringe.
I think he believes that nobody has fun at formal events, and they just pretend in order to feel superior.
Edit: Though, I think it a bit pretentious to completely shun themed weddings. Like I remember this one couple who met on WoW who had a WoW themed wedding, with cosplayers and everything. Looked like they were having a blaste. Should note that the bride, groom, priest, and the actual ceremony was traditional.

That kind of thinking leads to shenanigans like that one Japanese wedding with the groom dressed as a Nazi and the bride as Chii from Chobits. If you let standards of good taste slip, things start to go downhill fast, and from there there’s not much lower you can get before you go Game of Thrones.

Well, we know who never got invited to a fancy party. So, you think some people should have fun as they want and condemn others for the same?
A serious formal event means a snobby party for all the ‘high class’ scumbags to look down on the ‘peasants’.
A wedding is meant to be the happiest day on Earth for both the bride and the groom. If they wanted it to be styled as a Texas rodeo, then so be it.
>implying that hair is a bad thing
Swanky suit… and a crapton of hair.
I mean, look at him! He’s got a swanky-ass suit on, and most women like swanky-ass suits.

That still means the majority don’t!
I don’t. Pinkie may be funny and good at some parties, but I wouldn’t pick her for a serious formal event.
Cadance seems to be a child at heart, though, so at least it worked out.
Regardless, congrats, etc.
Well she seemed happy with the comparison, so I don’t think you need to appologise for that
Well, when Pinkie planned a wedding, she decorated it with toys and games more appropriate for a 5-year-old’s birthday party. (Sorry, Chrysalis had a point on that one.)
