It’s such a shame you won’t do the same though
…You sure we’re not just talking about someone getting thoroughly owned, and others commenting that they “got raped”?
Like, even when there were the very few guys that ever gave me shit about being a woman on the game (which I have for 1,544 total hours, and on many different servers), none of them ever said anything about rape in any way, shape, or form.
@GuitaurenHero
You’re right about them turning everything into a “rape joke”. They CREATED the “rape culture” they whine about.
Most SJWs really. You can count 3rd wave feminists, but with this issue the line is blurred, in terms of identifying.
That was just for an example, not necessarily meant to be a representation of the entire issue. I’ve seen it happen elsewhere, too, mostly on Reddit’s larger default subs. (And this was back in 2009, before bronies were really even a thing.)
As for “they”, I’m not really sure who you’re talking about there. Do you mean Pinkiepony or those other really batshit insane ones or are you speaking more generally?
The problem with the “online game” excuse is that it’s another reason to complain about shittalkers. I play TF2 and, chances are, I would say out loud(not over the mic) some not-so-nice things. The phrase “get raped/ you got raped” didn’t last too long and got replaced with “get rekt”. They classify [literally] ANYTHING with sexual connotation as a rape joke.
The whole anti-rape joke mainly started as backlash against the small minority of people online who carry the 4chan mentality of offensive joke-telling into spaces where it’s not appropriate. They’re not altogether common, but every now and then you do get someone on an online game server who’ll casually start saying “get raped” or other such “jokes” which rely on shock value alone. This is, obviously, incredibly insensitive because not all people are comfortable /w it and some may even find it legitimately disturbing.
The #1 rule for rape jokes, IMO, is “know your audience.” If you wouldn’t tell a joke to your grandmother, you probably shouldn’t be telling it to a room full of anonymous strangers unless you’re absolutely certain no-one would take issue with it.
And that’s the thing: Neither did I, aside from George Carlin talking about Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd.
Other than that, I’ve never heard anyone tell a rape joke until people started to on purpose because of complaints like those above. They literally created their own “rape culture”. Streisand Effect in action.
I’ve never actually heard a joke about a woman getting raped.
“Mimi respects that everyone has a different sense of humor. However, she has a right to find some ‘jokes’ to be disgusting and has the right to ask others to please stop, specially when they’re telling them around her!”
Just posting ’cause I felt the true message was lost without the actual text from the post and I honestly have no idea how this is unreasonable at all.
or misogynist…or triggering….
Also, how the hell is this fad still going?
Excuse me but you’re totally triggering me. Stawp. Stawp >:[
Alrighty then. Had my doubts, but you can’t translate sarcasm/humor that easy in text. /shrug
Mod here, Anon is correct and has an account.
Anon will remain anon.
There is the option to post anonymously, even with an account. I have mine defaulted to on for various reasons.
Don’t always assume it’s because someone is too lazy to make an account or afraid of standing over their opinions. Because as you’ve just demonstrated it’s much easier to just discount the opinions of some anonymous person with the result that they’re effectively swimming against the tide by going anon.
Why don’t you engage the content of a post instead of the name or lack thereof?
…who ever said the contrary?
@Background Pony #CECB
@Harvest
you 2 are terrible hahahaha
George Carlin made a joke about Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd, and it was funny, but I doubt a joke about a fictional pig forcing himself onto a fictional hunter with a speech impediment would cause an uproar, so I gotta agree with you.
@Background Pony #5C8B
Greg Hughes, or “Opie” from the Opie & Anthony show (now Opie with Jim Norton) was the one who said it first, so I’ll stick with his version since he isnt afraid of saying it on the air, and youre afraid of even making an account and username to even be remotely responsible for your end of the discussion.
I know what you meant: I was just being rhetorical/agreeing with you.
