In retrospect, he’d probably be no worse off if he lost the bet than if he hadn’t taken the bet, because there’s no way in hell he’d even consider it unless it was to get the doll back after it had been taken from him. so it’d be more like “If you want your girlfriend’s soul back,come face me at card games.”
 
Which might be fitting, since jin, like Yugi, is defined by an object which contains the spirit of his “other half”.

it just reminds me of the tasteless wrestling cliche of betting your valet/manager/WIFE on the line for a match. Then the subsequent implied debauchery that follows when the bad guy wins.

You’re nuts. Now usually, I also tend to massively prefer villains or just generally less-heroic characters, but Movie One Sunset failed to hit any of the right notes, while Rainbow Rocks Sunset scaled tremendously further up. The Dazzlings were volumes better as villains, of course, but even they couldn’t outplay Sunset here.
