Sombra must be Circassian/Chechen. That’s how they used to court their fiancees – ride up to the front door on your best black Kabardian stallion, wearing a black fur kalpak, packing your best silver-inlaid kindjal and shasqua, and with the heads of all her other boyfriends dangling from your stirrup.

Not really. As in, they don’t survive per se, the body is capable of basic functions because it can’t really bleed out and the neural tissue is less centralized than that of a mammal, so it “lives” for as long as it has the nutrients. The head survives for some time, too, but also only if you take not immediately shutting off and starting to decompose as “survival”.
 
Now, Chrysalis looks more like a pony with insectoid features than the other way around. There’s a reason no real insectoid life form developed anything resembling sapience. You simply can’t support a capable enough brain with the open circulatory system of a cockroach to begin with. Which means that Chrysalis most likely has all the disadvantages of mammals (such as their brains not taking to decapitation very well), unless they have somehow developed a vastly superior oxygen carrier that can somehow support enough oxygen indefinitely even with the BP drop and no circulation, and also cells that somehow won’t choke on their own waste when the blood flow stops taking it away.
