Finished picture based on an old sketch I did half a year ago. Featuring kilala97’s original characters Turquoise Blitz the son of Spike and Rarity and Princess Nidra, Luna’s “baticorn” daughter. I’m a big fan of Tidra happening after T outlives his first love, Anthea, and I thought of a scene in which they mourn Annie’s death, both filled with grief even though it happened so long ago.
The one whose name is on the headstone.
Nidra be like “Fuckin finally”
And even that last mercy’s granted with excruciating reluctance. That was a fairly haunting Twist Done Right(R), by the by-reinforces the notion that Nids still hasn’t gotten the hang of letting go (and packs a horrifying degree of power to reinforce that issue). Way to flesh ’em out.
Haha. Ironically, you’re not even wrong.
Oh, I know. I did write it, after all. The sequel goes into it a bit more showing how Nidra and Annie’s relationship changed throughout Annie’s life until the end. By then they actually get to be total besties. Guess you could say Nidra’s got conflicting desires when it comes to this relationship. I’ll get into it more in the fic I’m working on right now.
I seem to recall a fic where Nids here tries to sleep-whammy a wedding party over T & A, even if she eventually reconciles with the latter. Talk about royal delayed-gratification issues. That said, expecting squeaky-clean conduct from Nightmare Moon II (or would that be III?) does seem naive. Might be interesting to find out how aware Big Green here was of the rift between current & departed wifey.
Yeah, I’ve always seen her as the type who’ll do the right thing, eventually, but you have to twist her arm quite a bit, and it may not necessarily be for the purest of motives. Even her unwillingness to get together with T for a couple years (or decades) after Annie dies is probably more due to her own selfish feelings than respect for Annie and T’s relationship.
Nidra, unlike many MLP OCs, is a very grey character. She is downright unlikeable and bitchy sometimes. And not even with the ‘heart of gold’, underneath. Younger Nidra was a textbook example of “Jerk with a heart of Jerk”.
You EXPECT them to fit the cliche where they act like a jerk but are really a good pony… except she doesn’t. She only becomes better when she gets MUCH older, and even then she has to fight against those negative and childish emotions of hers.

Let’s just say she’s conflicted.
