Yeah, the meme is stupid and inaccurate.
You may be right; it does seem like we have different ideas of what a plan is. I am of one who considers plans to be the greater idea of how to achieve a goal, and while that may seem like I’m ignoring the little details, the reason I do that is not because I think things like variables, factors, strategies, tactics or “plan B’s” have no room in plans(quite the opposite). It’s because I consider those things to be tools; tools that can flesh out a plan that’s already there in greater detail, making it more flexible, believable, and clever. But without an idea, a context, or a working frame to have those factors be built around, then they are just tools, not plans in and of themselves. This is as best as I can explain myself, and you still aren’t convince by this, then let’s just agree to disagree.
Its apparent that you and I have different ideas on the concepts of plans and what not and I cant help but think your just repeating the same stuff about how plans are big general things that require no substance other that a simple concept to accomplish despite my definitions and reasoning. I speculate to show the many ways she could have made a true plan but did not say thus why she never stated her plan. Your idea only works if one holds a plan as being some vague idea that has no room for variables,factors,strategies,tactics or “plan B’s” since these are all just methods and tricks and have nothing to do with plan. Simple plan=/=bad plan.
No, a goal is a goal i.e. lordship over Equestria. A plan is the greater idea of achieving that goal. Invasion via army is the plan, in the most simplified way possible. Whether you like it or not, that is the plan. What you keep going on about of what she intends to do with her army are just that, methods and tricks, parts of the plan, but not the plan it and of itself. But since there’s no definitive proof of whether she’ll actually do those things, and as such, everything that you’re saying is nothing more than speculation, which only holds just as much water as the meme itself, i.e. not much that can easily be disregarded as much as it can be accepted.
So your saying tha what Sunset does to make her army achieve her goals,whatever the tatics and stragities she uses to make them bring her victory …are just tricks and methods and not in any way a true plan… But her stating she was going to use the army in some way to conquer equestria is a plan….A plans definition:a detailed proposal to fulfill ones intentions and descions on how to accomplish that intention… I feel like all my attempt to explain this to you are waste since you dont seem to know what a plan really is. And yes if you imply that sunsets full plan was nothing more than to use a teenage army to conquer equestria your are in some way giving legitmacy to this meme concept of her having a “terrible plan” regardless of your feelings for it.

She never stated what she was going to do with that army to conquer equestria. What she does would be her true plan to conquer Equestria it’s as simple as that and I can’t understand why you have failed to see that until that point the army is just a tool for her plan. That analogy doesn’t make sense, but fine, let’s use it anyway.
Ingredients: A magic crown, demonic form, a magic mirror to another world, and an entire student body.
Sandwich: Use the magic crown to turn into a demonic form and brainwash the entire student body and march through the magic mirror to another world and conquer that world.
All of the more detailed mechanics and strategies that can flesh out the plan more are just more ingredients and toppings to add to a sandwich she already made.
The staging of a plan is not the plan itself. Think of it like this,she had the ingredients for many possible sandwichs laid out after buying them,what type of sandwich she would make is what matters. The sandwich type she chooses is what makes a plan while this meme makes it seem like she would eat all the ingredients at once because it assumes becuse she has it there that want she would do is the most basic yet stupid thing.
Except the movie does show her how she was planning it, at least the part of how she would get the crown and her army. Afterwards, however, it became over-simplified, which is the problem of the writing, not with the actual plan itself.
A plan involves more than saying what your gonna use,it involves “planning”.As I stated in my previous comment she was taking her time cause of her ego and at the time she had no reason not to. And as I alredy said her plan would use the army of teens in some way but that doesn’t mean it has to be in a stupid way. I never said she wouldn’t use them but that she had a practle reason to enslave them as well.
That would still be a case of her taking her time. And she did say her plan; using an army of brainwashed teenagers. An overly simplified plan, but still a plan.
Yes she took her took her time but she was currently in a demonic super form against a magicless Twilight and helpless co(Chrysalis barly put the effort to secure her hostages before she started gloating) and yes she orderd her minions to round and up and hypnotize the student after you would want to make sure they didn’t call the autorties or get out of hand rigth,so hypnotizing the teenagers to me was smart even if she didn’t do anything with them immedaltly . And while her ego didn’t let her vaproize them instanty she still tried to kill the mane six fairly quick,something only Sombra could be argued to have also tried. And yes she stated she wanted to conquer Equestria.Thats not a plan,that’s a goal.She never says how’s she’s going to conquer equestria(a “plan”) and she had a lot of options to such as the scenario exampled in my last comment. I’m not saying she the best villian but people made some bad assumptions here to start presuming she would have such a illogical plan as “ one:invade equestria with army of teens…two:profit!”
By immediately, you mean her gloating on how she should’ve had the crown, then took the time brainwash the school and marvel at the results, then ordered Snips and Snails to round them up, and then told Twilight that her plan was the take over Equestria? Because, she was surely taking her time with that. And yes, that is her plan. She flat out said it in the movie.
I meant “Snips and Snails put the machine on maximum power to help Sunset Demon.”
She could even do so with the princesses and they’d never see it coming.

Well I wouldn’t say Chysalis plan was thrown together at the last minute. I think she even purposely made the threat against canterlot to deliberatly stress out Shining armor so she could do the mind control spells on him,not to mention all her not candecy quirks were pretty well disregards by pretty much every other pony as “wedding stress” so I don’t see why some users are saying how fragile her plan was.It seemed really solid to me and assuming she would have replaced Twiligth with a drone changeling who’s to say how far she could have gone had Twiligth not accidently found Cadence.
Chrysalis’s whole plan was thrown together at the last minute, with her making rushed decisions whenever something didn’t go her way. It was incredibly obvious and the only reason it worked with her methods was because…the writer said so.
Sunset’s was much simpler. Sunset would have known Celestia and Luna would both be on the other side of the portal. You know what, Sunset had the power to take them. You know why? BECAUSE SHE HAS THE ELEMENT OF MAGIC! Not to mention that said ‘mind control servants’ would fair well enough as pawns to do her bidding long enough to either escape the princesses and think of another plan, or stall them to allow her to make the final blow.
I may be making assumptions, but Sunset wasn’t stupid. Going by the comic, she seemed to be much more advanced in magic, had more control of it, and was just as studious as Twilight.
And unlike Chrysalis, the first thing Sunset wanted to do was kill Twilight. Not imprison and totally forget about, leaving just a few mind controlled ponies to stop them. (Mind controlled, not changelings…unless those changelings for some reason wanted to look like ponies…which is kind of pointless given where they were.) Nope, Sunset wanted to get rid of a big threat to her future plans.
