Seriously though, this is a very well done, poignant ghost story.
Despite it having some glaring plot holes and a few flaws, the good parts of this movie are so good and so well done that I dont really care for its problems. The acting is award worthy (especially Toni Collette as Coles mother, that was a heartbreaking performance), the atmosphere is both mundane and oppressive at the same time, and it manages to break some horror movie tropes really well. Few films of the genre can get as emotional as this one.
Now, the ending is a big issue as its both very shocking, and you dont entirely see it coming, but once you start thinking about it thats when some of the problems start to arise. In the end, first impressions are what counts, and this one was really good. Id say check it out, you wont regret it.
And now, if you excuse me, I need to put the temperature up a little bit. Its really chilly in here all of a sudden.
