The other one is also a well-done drawing rather than an edit. It may also have something to do with the tone: The other one seems intended to make you sympathize, while this one seems to revel in her suffering.

Curious. This Shimmerbuse pic is very much downvoted while the other Shimmerbuse pic right next to it has nothing but upvotes. I guess people draw a line between domestic abuse and verbal abuse???

If this was a picture of Aria, I would say Adagio. Adagio, despite her voice’s power, communicates primarily with her hands, and there are small signs in the movie that she uses violence on Aria sometimes.

Know what? This one make sense. Just imagine a time when she bullied the wrong person and she paid the price.
 
Or even better, she’s repent and just want to be nice. However, one of her former victim came back for some brutal revenge. Sunset didn’t even defended herself, feeling she deserved it.

It’s just that it hits people’s emotions that way. We see a character we actually like, this wounded and abused - it just triggers negativity. Thus, people downvote it based on those feelings. There are those that upvote the image as well but not because they enjoy seeing characters they like hurt, but because of the reasons you stated.
