Cue to after, it’s dark and the poor thing is getting fed up of being petted and you wonder if you should stop but you can’t.

Actually, as much as I love the idea of petting Fluttershy, I’d really rather pet the adorkable Twiley.
Like how you imagine it would be with Dashie, Twiley would start off being irritated by the petting, as it would serve to be a distraction from her continued studies. But over time, I would slowly “corrupt” her in a similar manner to become used to being petted, until she would willingly snuggle up next to me with a book and happily study away while I stroke her mane or cheek, or scritch her behind the ears or under the chin. :3
That’d be perfect :-)
I think PonyEcho is planning more of these. Rainbow Dash could be on that list :p
But Rainbow Dash is the grand prize.
She’d completely reject any and all attempts at first, thinking it’s lame and that cool ponies don’t need it. It’d start with gently touching her head. Then, slowly, I’d “corrupt” her, touching and petting her head longer and longer, and scratching her ears. Until one day, she’d want it so much she’d come to sit on my lap just so that I could pet her and scratch her ears.
At least in theory.
