If you’re trying to emphasize that you may be a little bit nuts, it’s working.
Pretty much, `cept you forgot the part where I went on a temporary comment crusade to kill Fluttershy because she’s still a vampire and must die(One of my major complaints with Bats!, BTW.).
Dude, you do realize who you’re talking to, right? This is the same guy who thinks that tomboys aren’t allowed to have long hair (I’m not joking, that’s his actual complaint about Rainbow Dash’s Rainbow Power form), insists that pegasi can’t have magic, even internal magic (which was a thing that was established LONG ago that pegasi and earth ponies had, giving them their abilities), because they don’t have horns (Still not joking, that’s his actual complaint about Twilight’s Kingdom), and regularly makes Gmod images of his OC ranting about how everything since the end of season 3 sucks because it doesn’t match his headcanon. And in this very thread, he admits that he doesn’t know whether being part of the Reserves of a military group actually counts as being part of that military group in real life.
Okay, so it’s pretty clear by now that you have a serious emotional investment in the idea that Rainbow Dash has already achieved her life’s goal and is a Wonderbolt now, with nothing left to strive for. And I get that this is a problem for you, since nobody is going to come away from Testing Testing 1, 2, 3 thinking, “Yeah, that’s it. Dash is a Wonderbolt now,” unless they share the same hangup.
Even if Dash were the type of Pony to say “Eh… Good enough!” and take being in the Reserves as being the same thing as becoming part of the actual headlining team (Just like joining the Navy reserves makes you one of the Blue Angels) - at no point in the episode does she actually become part of the Reserves.
She passes a history test. Aces it even… but that’s all she does.
It is certainly possible that this test was the very last obstacle between her and joining (surely there is no doubt that she meets any physical standards) but this is neither stated nor even implied at any point. Sure, I wouldn’t be particularly surprised if, the next time it is brought up, Rainbow Dash is indeed confirmed as being in the Wonderbolts Reserves, but as of now that’s just speculation.
Looking at it from a real-world, production perspective again, the whole point of inventing the “Wonderbolts Reserves” in the first place was to give the character Rainbow Dash something satisfying to strive for and achieve in an episode while not actually fulfilling her dream, because that would take it off the board and preclude future episode based around the same premise.
As I already said, the writers will never allow Rainbow Dash to become a Wonderbolt for real (that is, in a way that satisfies both the character in-universe and the viewers at home) until they are absolutely 100% sure that there is nothing else they want to do with the plot thread ever again - which is not likely to happen until the very last season (provided they know it’s the last season beforehand).
I can only repeat myself: Your claim that Rainbow Dash is an actual Wonderbolt already makes no sense from either the in-universe perspective or the real-world one. You are not likely to convince anyone who doesn’t share the same emotional need to believe it.
Kid shows tend to repeat these sort of things, I’m not betting it will happen I just can see this as an episode.
Well, this show does like to repeat itself.
Again?
Well yes, but she would definitly do that because of her ego being bigger than the sun. It would be an episode where she gets so full of herself and start acting like a jerk to her friends thinking she’s better than them until a series of events will cause her to change her mind and become more humble or less braggy about her position.
Too bad no one has said anything of the sort so far. Rainbow Dash becoming a full-fledged Wonderbolt would be pretty significant. It hasn’t really happened yet.
I honestly have no idea, as I myself have never joined a military service of any kind.
@JustTheBast
No she wouldn’t. Just having her say, “I’m a Wonderbolt.” or something along those lines is all the proof the audience needs.
I mean, you wouldn’t wear a camo uniform all the time just to prove that you’re a marine, right?
Ah. No, I get that part. I just didn’t know if that was how it worked. I mean, I thought that there’d be more ceremony involved before you could officially call yourself a member of a military force or unit.
For example, if you finished training as an Air Force pilot, would you officially be acknowledged before receiving your wings? I was always under the impression that there would be some sort of official ceremony where you’re given your insignia and stuff before you would be considered an official member. Until then, you’d still technically be a trainee and thus not part of the team.
Am I mistaken?
Despite the fact that Rainbow Dash made it into the Wonderbolts Reserves in Testing Testing 1-2-3, there are still people who say that she isn’t an official Wonderbolt. Hell, in a forum thread that I made several months ago, one user stated that, “Until she is wearing an official uniform, Rainbow Dash is NOT a Wonderbolt.”.
I find that kinda stupid myself. That’s like saying someone who has joined a U.S. Marine Reserve is not a soldier unless they put on camo and tote an MP5 wherever they go.
Sorry?
I’m just hoping those things do in fact happen before the series ends. I’ll never forgive Charles Shulz for not letting Charlie Brown kick that stupid ball.
Do you honestly think that, if this made her an actual Wonderbolt, it would have passed with so little fanfare? Do you really think that Rainbow Dash of all ponies would let any opportunity pass to remind everypony she’s a Wonderbolt, if she really were one? She’d be in uniform 100% of the time and announce herself with “Attention! Wonderbolt coming through!” every time she entered the scene.
And from the Doylist perspective, Rainbow Dash’s desire to join the Wonderbolts is one of her defining character traits. They are not going to eliminate it casually, while there is still potential for episodes like “Wonderbolts Academy” or, indeed, “Testing Testing 1, 2, 3” to be based on it.
Rainbow Dash is not likely to become a Wonderbolt any sooner than the Cutie Mark Crusaders getting their marks. Either of those events would likely herald the end of the series.
I… think that’s correct, I’m not sure. I believe that those that are part of the reserves are still considered to be part of whatever branch of the armed forces they signed up for and are ready to be sent out whenever they are ordered… but are not actually active.
I might be wrong, though.
Is that how it works with reserves? For example, if you finish training for, like, the Marines and are placed in the reserve right out of training, can you still call yourself a Marine?
Seriously, I want to know.
its not surprising rainbow
