^ Meh, that’s probably true. I was honestly happily surprised when they decided to go with Rarity over Twilight for the bringing Spike back to his senses thing. I know the pairing isn’t canon, and much like the CMC with their talents and Dash with the bolts, there’s no chance of it even happening until the end but I was glad to see the writers tease such, at the time, a small and fairly unpopular shipping.
 
Also, I want to clarify that I have nothing really against Raripants, though I prefer Fancity as a name personally, I just don’t see their relationship beyond mentoring on Fancy’s part. I was surprised that Rarity didn’t even put in a token effort at flirting during their interaction though. On paper she’d be all over that. Maybe he is already married, which would lend credence to the idea that Blueblood is the most eligible unicorn in Canterlot.

@candrew Ah, see, you’re over-analyzing and reading too much into things again. If Twilight had given Spike something she valued highly it probably would have reverted him too. Not that he doesn’t have a fat crush on Rarity, but I doubt it’s anything more than that.
 
And I don’t really like Raripants as a couple either. She seems to look up to him almost as a mentor type of figure and he treats her almost like a favorite uncle would, not to mention I like him with Fleur because it’s hilarious. But to each their own.

I dont see Raripants as canon either. Just preference and it seems like a good fit.

As for this pic, the friendzone is a nonsense concept that the internet likes to throw around because it is the internet. And even if it wasn’t this pic doesn’t prove friendzoning on Rarity’s part.
 
Sparity isn’t canon, only married couple ships are canon. The only canon part is that Spike has feelings, serious feelings based on the fact he reversed a biological function of his species based on his feelings for her.

Second of all, SoME does not mean Rarity is interest in Spike romantically. It doesnt mean she isnt, but it doesnt mean she is.  
She did not want him to tell her because she knows and she teared up because she’s a)touched by his feelings
 
b)the entire situation is very emotional
 
c)feels bad for the kid because she cant avoid rejecting him anymore and tbh his crush is not as big a secret as he thinks, meaning it will be embarrassing for him
 
Id rather see Rarity with Fancy Pants anyway. He’s basically what she thought Blueblood would be like as well as being the most boss male character imo.

@Quello Yeah, I don’t see how that offers any sort of support to the ship, really… if Tabitha and Ashley had been asked about a Rarijack proposal for instance, they probably could have joked up a response to that too. I can actually imagine Spike fantasizing about proposing on the show, but that doesn’t mean Rarity would ever say yes if he did. I think it’s more likely Ron Jeremy will be elected president tbh.

Well, it would have been cruel if they had refused, and that was based on an hypothetical event.
 
I’ve always found that Spike’s crush isn’t as serious as some others think. Sure, he likes praising and being around her, and enjoys when she shows appreciation for him, but actual commitment? I don’t think so.

If you guys paid attention at the MLP Panel at SDCC One of the public asked to Cathy what it would be like if Spike proposed marriage to Rarity. Cathy (using Spike voice) started doing some improvised marriage proposal to Rarity (Tabitha) and she responds saying the following:
