Imagine the world after everyone switches to these Linux systems: Companies would go out of business because no-one is paying for their product. Even the companies that make these Linux systems would go out of business, because everyone will already have an operating system for their computer.
Eventually, there will be no money supporting Microsoft, Apple, IBM, or anyone who makes closed-source software. Even the small 0.001 percent of people left–who use Windows, for example–would not be able to upgrade their PC. There would be no upgrade. They would be forced to switch to the socialist way.
Millions of companies would have to switch to Linux, halting productivity as they adjust to the new system. Speaking of companies, everyone at Microsoft, Apple, and IBM would be out of work. Jobs will be lost left to right. All because we wanted to save money. Hell, even the people who made these wouldn’t be able to keep making them, as the option exists to make your own Linux system from scratch, which is also free! The book to guide you through the making can even be found for free online!
Friends from around the world, do the global economy a favor: Tell the people who make these systems to give them a price, or not support them at all. They must be monetized, or they must not exist. We do not want to live in a world of economic destruction. The System32 of our world is at stake.
Its a year old shit post, let’s leave it to rot
Because capitalism is so great, right? Leave the people in the dust while the moguls lounge in their palaces.
I’M GONNA KILL OP NOW
Actually they will be more like regular PC’s running Steam OS, a Debian-based distro with Big Picture as main interface. You can even download Steam OS and create your own Steam Machine following this instructions. As I said before, I use Linux Mint as my main OS. And yes, I have Steam.
Oh and I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but it is inevitable that capitalism will bring about the end of capitalism. The march to increase profit margins and technological advancement is also going to spur automation. We are on the precipice of the new robot revolution, and when it is complete what do you propose to do when 90% of the population is unemployable?
Steam is already available for Linux, and Valve plans to release own console based on Steam and Linux.
Actually, it’s offering stuff for how much it cost to produce (including labor costs) instead of an arbitrary mark-up which is often several times the real costs of the product. Instead of the owner reaping all the profit above the base line, there’s just the manager who gets a standard salary, and anything above the base line - if it happens - is distributed as bonuses over the whole crew.
That’s true, but it is the main thing they make.
Also, I added a source.
That’s not socialist…
Once again, They make more then OSs, they will not go out of business from more people not using their OS.
“The socialist way” refers to choosing free stuff over anything with a price tag.
Oh and one of the tags you put at the start was “socialism”, you where saying it.
We have recovered some from the most recent recession. Putting Fortune 500 companies out of business isn’t going to do us any favors.
Then you didn’t say “They would be forced to switch to the socialist way”?
“Better than it could be”
Yeah, ‘better’ in the sense that it hasn’t completely collapsed yet.
If you’re not trolling then you certainly have no freaking clue what’s actually going on.
I’m not saying it will bring socialism. In fact, now that I think about it, that sounds goddamn stupid. But it will affect the economy in a negative way.
You sure act like a troll with jumping from an possible problem on an economic level means people will change to socialism when that is a social and economic system.
