Well with how broad the terms “good guy” and “bad guy” are, not to mention how it can totally be based on perception since there’s seldom a case of someone being completely good or completely bad, “face” and “heel” are just… two words that have become more commonly used to express “Someone who the general public is made to perceive as being a heroic figure (good guy)/Villainous figure (bad guy)”… with a lot less words.

I got the phrase from TV Tropes. I know it’s from wrestling, but since I’ve honestly never given a flying flip, or flying elbow, about wrestling, I don’t really connect it to the phrase in my head.
Also, I like people saying something that was originally commonly associated with wrestling-lingo, like “heel-face turn”. Pfft!
That said, we can only hope those three actually have lives they get to live in a future installment.
Anybody hoping for a heel-face turn was asking for too much character development for one Hasbro movie. They were already developing Sunset Shimmer, any more and they would have deemed it too complex for their target audience.
That’s assuming that the sirens are gone forever. They didn’t explode or anything when they lost, they just ran offstage.
