Description

This has always bothered me. Applejack has a huge fucking farm with tons of apples. She should be ballin’.

“Why, with all that money, we could do a heap of fixin’up’round here. We could replace that saggy old roof, and BigMacIntosh could replace that saggy old plow, and Granny Smith could replace that saggy old hip.” Applejack, Season 1 Ep 3: The Ticket Master
They can’t pay for health care for their granny or put a decent roof so their children can grow in a healthy, dry house. knee deep in dipshit.

But naaah I’m with you, I also think the Apples are great landlords all around Equestria, show is simply inconsistent about it.

As you stated it’s inconceivable for them to be poor, yet Big Mac go around Equestria thought a fire swamp to sell a single carriage of pies and Applejack as to work herself to exhaustion and overtime. That’s not being humble that’s being bound to the episode’s script.

You have failed to account for the non-liquid assets…
What do you think the fair market value of a HUGE thriving farm and orchard that produces a product unavailable anywhere else in Equestria (Zap Apple Jam) is? The Apple family is the largest landowner in Ponyville. They were given the land by Celestia.
And Rarity has… a dress shop. The boutiques in Canterlot and Manehattan are rented.
If the Apple family decided to sell Sweet Apple Acres they would be extremely wealthy. In fact they could probably hire ponies to work for them. Or they could rent the farm and take a nice percentage off the top. Granny Smith could offer her Zap Apple expertise at the harvest.
Face it- AJ loves her work. She could buy and sell Rarity if she were so inclined.

another reason Rarity could be Rich…One of her talents is finding gems. And plus probably not the richest in Ponyville that’s probably Filthy Rich

You’re saying that if they lost a huge chunk of their business they’d go out of business?

That isn’t a sign of financial distress; that’s pretty common for small businesses.

In Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, that is because they made a bet, not because of financial difficulties.
And to the best of my knowledge, Applejack never mentions anything about going out of business in Applebuck Season.
Feel free to quote the transcript to prove me wrong, but I just looked and didn’t find anything.

AJ explicitly states in both episodes that if she doesn’t accomplish the task the episode revolves around she is going to lose her business.
Rarity’s business related episodes deal primarily with her needing to remain popular, she’s never outright stating she’s at risk of going under, despite her being the melodramatic one.

That’s… not what those episodes are about. At all.

SSCS6000 is about them making a stupid bet.

Applebuck Season is about Applejack being too stubborn to ask for help.

There’s no evidence that Sweet Apple Acres is in financial trouble in either episode.

Take two: Super Speedy Cider Sueezy 6000, and Applebuck Season. The setup to both of these episodes is that Sweet Apple Acres is at risk of going out of business, the former due to competition, the latter due to shortstaffing.

To be fair, we know from the show itself that clothing is a luxury item; luxury goods tend to be expensive, which would, in fact, translate into someone who produces them likely being wealthier than someone who produces a staple product, all other things being equal.

That being said, there’s really no evidence that Applejack is poor or struggling in any way.

Eh, i dont think this is one of those posts deserving of insulting the OP. Its not a troll post, certainly doesnt deserve the OP is starting shit stuff.

Its a legitimate point. Applejack is repeatedly worried about losing the farm and has money troubles, while Rarity doesnt have those issues. Though i dont think shes richest pony in town material - shes definitely well off though.

All i did is offer an explanation for why this might be the case.

Or maybe Applejack just prefers not being fancy and ballin’ with all the CA$H.
Cause I think she’s the type of pony who enjoys living a simple lifestyle instead of a fancy one.

But that would just basically be OP saying their headcanon is a bit weird yet they talk as if it’s canon.

It’s mentioned in the comments already how all those claims in the picture are nonsense.

Rarity is not rich. We’ve seen the Filthy Rich has really lavish house and even if Filthy is not the richest pony, he clearly is one of the richest in Ponyville. Rarity’s house is above her clothing shop. Sure Rar isn’t poor either. She certainly manges well but that can be said about other ponies too including Applejack.
Rarity constantly wants to be more known and popular. If she was rich, she could easily just arrange big ad campaigns to make hersefl and her dresses more known. Also you’d think the element of generosity would help her poor friends if those friends really are poor and Rarity herself would be rich.

Apple family losing their farm seems to be just a plot thing used to make the situation feel more serious. The show is not the most consisten tehre is. Like in that Super Speedy Cider episode where losing the farm was a thing again, the bet was about the rights to sell cider and that only, yet after they lost at first, they were about to give away their farm and FlimFlam brothers were ready to take it even though the bet was never about that. But it still shows that the farm belongs to the Apple family and even without that, there has never been any talk about loans or anything so even that loan shark thing is just completely made up. We’ve never seen anything that would male Apple family look really poor. They seem to be doing just fine.

So even if OP is not looking to start shit, they certainly don’t know what’s going on in the show itself.
