it seems to only be affecting how her magic works rather than making her compeltely confused. like it did when their mark were switched up. so likely it is more supeerficial if still impacting.

I vaguely remember reading that book as a kid. But personally I’m more hoping they go the 1984 route if only because then the episode would have a kickass Eurythmics soundtrack. :D

I bet you, Twilight is going to go avatar in the end, restore her friends’ cutie marks, and destroy the villain like they’ve always done in the past.

I’m thinking less 1984 and more A Wrinkle in Time. The Mane Six have stumbled upon Canterzotz, and IT’s terrible plan to enforce harmony throughout Equestria by taking away each pony’s individuality.

I keep suggesting it’s a 1984 crossover but nobody believes me for some reason!

Now I’m antsy as to how the process is done. Perhaps a magic field around the mystery town, since it seems like she’s only recently discovered her problem?

This is so confusing…I’ll have to re-watch the San Diego Comic Con preview to see if when the Mane Six arrive outside the town, they either have their cutie marks back following what the cutie marks did in Twilight’s castle, or they are still blank flanks.
 
Either way, that’s when the “=” makes it move on them when they set foot in the town, and makes it so they are not unique and individual anymore, they are just like everypony else.
 
Hopefully, until they either leave the town, or stop whoever, or whatever, is behind it, the “=” will only be temporary, then they’ll get their regular cutie marks back. Time will tell…

The animator appears to be on drugs. As is Dash. And was that cutie mark an animation error or intentional?

it’s pretty genius when you think about it.
 
All throughout this show they’ve been fighting against things trying to sow chaos, i.e. Nightmare Moon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Lord Tirek; But now they are going to have to deal with something trying to enforce harmony.

I’ve seen some predictions about the new villain making everpony completely equal, looks like it might be true.
 
Looks like they will all have the same strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes so they are all equals.
 
I’m hoping the villain wishes to make everone in Equestria alicorns to complete his/her plan.
