and then twilight took over everything.

TS: Soooooo…that’s how the Equestrian Banking system works?
 
BB: Exactly, Miss Sparkle…banking, military/industrial spending, the national budget…it’s all tied together.
 
TS: But it just sounds so greedy & insane! The whole system could collapse on a whim.
 
BB: No problem; whenever that happens we just get a taxpayer funded bail-out.
 
TS: Won’t ponies realize this and…umm, get really angry at us?
 
BB: That’s why we keep education standards low. If the populous really understood what we do they’d cut our heads off and parade them around on pikes.
 
TS: How is any of this legal!?
 
BB: Because we get to write the laws.
