Don’t we have two ponies with a liar cuty mark? I mean Applejack is the Element of Honesty, herCutie mark and Element have the shape of an apple. Meaning that Apples are a symbol of truth in Equestria. (Fruit of knowledge, with a liar and sneaky guardian in the tree, anyone?)  
So what does it mean when your Cutie Mark is only a piece of an apple, or an apple where a slice is missing? You get only parts of truth, which means you let essential parts out and therefor you lie. Flim & Flam are liars, good liars because everyone believes them. But their lies are only partial lies with a bit of truth in them, and their Cutie Marks show this to everyone.  

 
Which means, if you are a big liar or a bad liar, shouldn’t Apple Blooms Cutie Mark be an rotten apple?

You could totally use deception for good. You just need to only accomplish good ends with it. That sounds like an ends-justify-the-means flavor of excuse, but if it’s all you’re good at…

the really disturbing undertones is if you get a cutie mark for being good at lying, then everyone would know you were a liar and that’d make you a bad liar. you’d be trapped in a perpetual cycle of cutie mark failure syndrome.
 
really since getting a cutie mark in lying means you aren’t talented at lying, you can only get a cutie mark in being good at lying badly and getting caught. so it’s more like an honesty cutie mark than a lying one.
