I hated dog spike

Finally someone agrees.

Spike deserves to be a human than a dog

the only reason I can think of as to why they made spike a dog was because.  
a talking dog made it easier for the girls to believe twilight was a talking pony from another world.

Yeah I get what you mean. But even though the Diamond Dogs in that episode are dumb they still had their own “civilization” with what looked like an organized society, clothes and armor and weapons and that kind of thing, when every time we’ve seen dragons they’re more like wild animals. Intelligent yeah (they talk and stuff) but feral. Cows and sheep talk too and are obviously intelligent (and cows even seem to be free citizens to some degree since we see the one cow doing business in Ponyville in the Cranky Doodle ep) but still we’ve seen them both rounded up like animals and living on Applejack’s farm and the sheep even kept in pens like ordinary animals.
 
So, just because dragons can talk doesn’t mean they’re on the same “level” as ponies, by choice or not, or they’re clearly not supposed to be at least.

Not really. Every intelligent species was transformed into human, besides him. Even the Diamond Dogs who aren’t nearly as smart as him.

Or not. I like Spike but it makes sense why they made him a dog instead.
