Also the 3D show kinda came into it’s own. I like it alot. But the 2D shorts were pretty amazing too.

Purple has been associated with dark skin forever.

Well, there’s that. Though besides whether it looks good or not, Rarity has a white/purple color scheme in-show, and while I’m not saying coat color=skin color, there is some reason why the pony in question has that color, and in Rarity’s case it’s because it looks good on her.
 
Considering she’s very concerned in her appearance, it makes sense that this color contrast were carried into her humanizations, but that’s something dark-skinned humanizations can’t do unless they make clothes white, and considering she often wears colorful dresses, it’s lost most of the time.

It worked well for Anthy of Revolutionary Girl Utena:
 

 
I have that pink hair on light skin tone kinda clash for me, some work, other do not. Love to see a tanned Fluttershy more often.

I would agree to some extent, I had figured that since the art of “humanization” anything is up to translation and if the the foundation, style, character traits of the original is captured in human form, it really doesn’t matter what skin tone they are in. But the dark skinned Rarity does suit her well in contrast.

^The problem I find with dark skin in that situation is that while it keeps the contrast between her skin and clothes, it loses the one between her skin and hair, and the same happens with most of her dresses.

I like it because humanized Rarity’s outfits is usually whites and blacks anyway with some purple accents. So she either needs to be very dark skinned or pale to keep the outfits looking nice.

I like the dark-skin Rarity in this one, adds variety in the vanilla world of humanized ponies.
