Probably the middle option, Equestria is a peaceful land(for the most part) and I suppose somepony thought it be a good idea to rasie funds and publicity by letting the special forces do their thing in a fun,controlled setting. If you question why their is no Special Unicorn entertainment unit… I suppose the Pegasus are a more Militant,action orientated culture and such were more responsive to the fast paced,booming excitement of a Wonderbolt concept than Unicorns would be of a special team of Unicorn practitioners doing fancy combat spells dumb-downed to a civilian level or whatnot .

What exactly are the Wonderbolts in the humanized universe? Athletes? Military pilots who like doing airshows when they aren’t deployed? The police?
