Yeah, not all ponies are friendly…
And for some weird reason, everyone becomes a jerk when Pinkie doesn’t throw a party in a day. Seriously, what would happen after she died?!

While we all love Trixie, Spike doesn’t exactly have any reason to give her the time of day. I think calling her a jerk is reasonably justified (especially since he wasn’t there for the comic stories where she gets a lot of her redemption).

you know however from a perspective of the characters. She’s more than likely just pointing out a social norm that exists for most of the ponies in Equestria. I mean throughout their history whenever they encountered a dragon its usually the greedy large and not so friendly type. so it would make sense that there are would have that depicted in a form of social commentary. just like any media what here in the real world, of course these dragons probably don’t like that stereotype but it is an unfortunate truth. Of course they don’t seem to hate the ponies for it, this one in particular just seems to want to speak out against the stereotype. Which could count as a bit of a meta thing when you think about it. Because comic books have been known to make social commentary throughout history. Look at Marvel, X Men was a huge metaphor for civil rights and the treatment of others. Social commentary in comics is not something new.

It’s a fair point, really. Spike’s only exposure to other dragons has been either the giant greedy monster sized dragons, and those teenage asshole ones who are well on their way to that point anyway. Plus, the only secondhand knowledge he’s had access to comes from the Pony society that generally doesn’t know very much at all about them, and mostly doesn’t seem to want to know. Up until now Spike’s never had any positive experience with other dragons, so it’s not hard to imagine he could be that naive.

….The pheonix egg, the Large Timberwolf, the rock crabs…yeah I think between the show and the comics, it ranges close to eleven.

Basically, most dragons that are good aren’t exactly given big opportunities to prove themselves. Thus they are only judged by the bigger, greedier dragons, and it turns into prejudice. I can see that…

He also saved the day eleven times according to that one dragon-hating cop.

Let’s see… the Crystal Empire, the ice cloud at the Games, the mutant cockatrice… I can’t remember the rest. Can we make it to eleven?

So there’s a community of dragons that forsake the green-eyed magic of greed, stay small, and try to live as normal people? Even when most people still fear and despise them?

I like it. It goes to show how lucky Spike is for being accepted, and also how underestimated he is.

He ain’t the group pet, he’s a dragon and he’s a main hero.

Oh look it’s IDW writers sharting all over, what a big surprise that is.
