Indeed. Let us all worship ponies our own way.
I find it funny whenever anyone complains about stealing in a fandom when literally the entire fandom is about stealing Hasbro’s IP.
Yeah, I can’t believe that bp kept going on about it for so long.
THIS PICTURE MAKES ME ANGRY. IT HAS CUTE PONIES EATING TOGETHER. SOMEONE ELSE DRAWS PONIES DOING CUTE THINGS TOGETHER. AAAANGGRRYYY.
Gonna agree with you there outside of those that decide to add “But that’s not a bad thing!”
Then don’t use that word…
I’ve never heard “ripoff” used in a non-negative context.
>does the same google search
merriam webster says “a usually cheap exploitive imitation”
oxford dictionary says “An inferior imitation of something:”
sounds pretty negative to me.
There’s a reason the other meaning of the word involves scamming money out of people. because it implies the product sucks, and that people will feel that they’ve been ripped off if they got it.
Nope. When it’s talking about a monetary scam yeah, obviously that’s always negative. But other uses of the word (even with a quick google search looking at only results on the first page) mean a “copy” or an “imitation” or something that’s “clearly imitative of or based on something else”. That’s not inherently negative, and it’s not untrue.
sometimes? it only has negative connotations
I’m not “angry” on anyone’s behalf except mine, and I’m not really even angry, just annoyed. I have not been trying to “accomplish” anything here, I made a simple comment stating my opinion on this thing (it bugged me how this guy handled making this blog like I said), which other people apparently had to challenge. I never once said RD was totally unique, or mentioned one ship being better than another, or anything, but people act like that’s what I was complaining about and you had to throw in that I’m pathetically sad for caring about this, which is why I’ve kept responding (if you’re going to make personal digs aimed in my direction, I’m going to answer, you could have just let me voice my opinion that wasn’t aimed at anyone here and I guess I could have just ignored you after you did, but eh).

I’ll try to clarify this one more time. I never said nobody should be allowed to draw art for whatever ships. I never said one ship was better than another, or whatever. I never said RD was completely, totally unique or whatever like that either. I did say that this guy copied RD (which he even says himself multiple times in different places that he did, even on the first post of the blog so it’s not like I’m making “mean” or unfounded accusations here), and yeah there have been other daily and probably weekly blogs but outside just the time format this one’s a “shipping blog” with a similar name and art format and whatever that sets it apart, and again the artist stated himself he got the entire idea from the other blog so I don’t get how anyone can try to dispute that. It’s not even a bad thing necessarily, but yeah it’s a fact he got the entire idea from the other blog, he says so repeatedly himself. Go look if you don’t believe me.
@Japanese Teeth
Yeah “ripoff” is a word with sometimes negative connotations I guess… substitute “copy” or whatever if you want instead. For the rest see the above paragraph.

…I feel compelled to point out that the whole “Daily Image Tumblr” thing wasn’t even Whitediamond’s idea to begin with; I’m pretty sure they’ve explicitly said that “Rarijack Daily” was inspired by Karpet-Shark’s Twily Daily blog, which was a thing for a long time before Rarijack Daily started. So even assuming that WD is mad about being “ripped off” they wouldn’t have any right to be; they weren’t the first to use the format, just the most popular.
The only possible reason I can see for getting mad about is the fact that the artist supposedly “lied” about doing the blog when in reality it looks more like they just changed their mind about it. But claiming that it’s a ripoff just because it’s copying the format doesn’t even make sense, because it isn’t even specific to Rarijack Daily anyway.
Really bud? Are we really doing this?
Obviously, you’ve talked to Whitediamonds, and she’s outraged, right? I assume you wouldn’t be getting so angry on her behalf if that wasn’t the case. Never mind the fact that literally any and all shipping pictures in this format, under your ridiculously nonspecific criteria, would qualify as plagiarism. Apparently the idea of having two characters doing things together in a picture is a cutting edge, copyrighted concept unique to rarijack daily.
Also, I’m counting a grand whopping total of 11 images featuring twijack in his portfolio of 391 works. Christ, you’re right, he’s practically art Hitler.
I ask again, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Was it expressing your outrage that one brand of cartoon horse romance artist would dare make pictures that apparently bear resemblance to another brand of cartoon horse romance artist when he said he wouldn’t? What part of that strikes you as a suitable thing for any person on earth without an egregious overabundance of free time to care about?
No… no, you obviously don’t. Because once again you bring up the content, when my original sarcastic comment was all about how the artist handled this whole thing, which was really underhanded. If he would have just had the balls to go ahead and make this tumblr from the beginning like he obviously wanted to then fine, but he said repeatedly “don’t worry guys” and that he wasn’t going to because he was worried about a backlash and people getting mad about him ripping off the first blog and thinking he was just trying to capitalize on its success. So he pushed a little harder every next time until finally doing it which just comes off as sneaky. I just don’t like sneaky people. And it was totally needless.
Yeah, funny. I guess you think the artists involved are pathetic then, since I bet they’ve wasted a lot of time caring about this, obviously this guy did. Why don’t you ask them? I guess as long as you get “cool art either way” you don’t have any reason to care.
No, I read you loud and clear.
“Nice how Jowybean assured people repeatedly he wouldn’t go make a blog and rip off RariJack Daily. Only to totally go make a blog that rips off RariJack Daily.”
Sounds a lot like needless bitching and whining to me. We get cool art either way. It’s pathetic that anyone would waste time caring about this fact.
Why don’t you reread my original post again? Because you seem to have a problem with comprehension and understanding what I was commenting on and “complaining” about in the first place.
@Rpground
The content itself isn’t really shippy at all you’re right. But since the artist has tagged it that way that makes it count I guess.
What even makes this a shipping pic anyway? All I see is two friends having breakfast together…
And you care because…?
Not really sure why you would go through the trouble of complaining about extra content for an underrated ship. Unless you actually have some sort of vested interest in making sure everyone else has the same small multicolored lesbian horse image tastes as you. Because that would be profoundly saddening.
“RariJack Daily”, “Twijacky Weekly”, similar art format and he even mentions RD several times and credits it for inspiration before and after making the blog (check the very first tumblr post and most of the rest of the Deviantart pics). Nice try though champ.
Yea because the idea of posting new content for a ship frequently is totally original, right?
Wonder if this was inspired by a fic?
