but the parallel black lines should be aligned with the candy cane’s tilt, not horizontal. they should be tilted counter-clockwise somewhat, making the white line shorter than you measured.
thus making the ponies bigger than your estimate.
Thats also assuming that their measurement for feet is the same as ours, which considering they are from a different world is also a huge assumption to be making, given their hoof sizes may drastically differentiate from that of human feet.
Twilight said it’s eight feet tall.
Ponies evolved in the time between the end of G1 and the beginning of G4.
I wasn’t paying attention to the chart but now looking at it again it seems G4 ponies close to G1 height like my headcanon.
As explained in the infographic, the real-life way of measuring a horse or pony’s height is to measure from the hoof to the withers, which is the equivalent to a shoulder. This measurement completely ignores the neck and head.
This means that Celestia’s height, if measured like horses are measured in real life, is around 4ft.
However, if she were to be measured from the top of her head all the way down to the bottom of her forehooves, similar to how humans are measured from head to toe, then Celestia’s height totals in at 6’3” tall.
I’m 5’11”, which means I’d be looking up at her if we were meeting face-to face. 5’11” is also a very average height, so a lot of you would be dwarfed by her, too.
I don’t know the average size of an full-grown horse, but I’d guess it would be over 6ft if measured from head to forehooves.
All in all, the person who worked on this did great with the calculations, and it was good of them to actually point out the flaws in their own calculations - too many people neglect to include any possible margin of error these, because they want to be right all the time.
But the chart says that the main six are 3’8” and Celestia is 6’3”
But srsly, celestia only 4 ft? That’s freakin short
However:
Do we know how much of that 8ft is buried?
Yes, but we don’t use millimeters to measure things that are bigger than millimeters. :-)
