But he’s no stranger to the odd shooter that can stand out.

Well there’s more to do than walking. There’s jumping, and gliding, and sand-surfing and hiding from horrible mechanical monsters among things. Ah well. Different strokes for different folks, right? Dare I ask what games he does like?

Well, there is a little action, but yes, probably it’s just not the game for him.
Don’t let him play Flower, then.
He seems to have mellowed out about it now, but at the time, he asserted it was a boring game with nothing to do but walk.
At the end of that argument, I was convinced he just didn’t have the patience for more atmospheric games or more ambiguous stories.
