Pony Flash Sentry is just like the other background ponies. The writers haven’t given him a personality yet, so naturally, the fandom here has to give him a fan-made personality. The only thing we have to go on, though, is that he’s supposedly somewhat like human Flash Sentry in the EQG movies. And since in those movies human Flash Sentry has about as much personality as a cardboard cut-out (thanks to the horrible writing), it sort of makes sense to portray pony Flash Sentry as a superficial, shallow idiot.
 
I don’t dislike the character, he’s actually kind of enjoyable this way.

Funny thing is, some of the Flash-haters are now using that scene to justify hating him even though he was under mind control. I wish I was kidding.

I’d like some scenes with Flash Sentry and Sunset Shimmer, because they have yet to be with each other onscreen, obviously not in a relationship because Sunset Shimmer is actually a unicorn.

personally RR’s treatment of sunset hit a perfect ratio IMO. Not easily forgiven but not permanently shut-out of redemption.

Perhaps, but she still at least filled the villain quota for the movie, and it was revealed she had bigger aspirations then just “being the most popular girl in school,” which kinda subverts the “alpha bitch” cliche’ somewhat.
 
Also, arguably, her new personality isn’t much better. I do like how the things she did in the first movie aren’t being ignored, and I like how she regrets them, and feels awkward/saddened by it, while trying to be a better person, but it’s hard with how nearly everyone at school either hates her, or fears her.  
Though, some fans feel they made her to much of a “sympathetic woobie,” and a few actually did prefer her as a villain. Still the majority of fans seem to prefer her R.R. reformed personality regardless.

Having a toy don’t mean anything, they need it just to compete with other toylines like Monster High etc. Alot of characters have their own toys so it’s not the case.

She kinda was an generic HS alpha bitch. The most unique thing about her(being Celestia’s former student) is glossed over. Which is a shame since her rebelling against Celestia would make a really interesting story. Old!Sunset has got to be one of the worst characters I’ve seen in western animation. I’ve never seen such a lazily and poorily written character before in a western cartoon. The only one to come close is Rayne Sohmer from Least I could Do’s pilot. While her character in RR is much better then her in the first film, I still don’t adore her as much as others. I like her, of course, but not to the extent of other fans.

I hate to say it, but alot of BG characters who barely do anything have toys now to. (Both the pony and human EqG ones.)

or have simon furman write the third movie. he does that stuff all the time for transformers (character/toys that people don’t give a crap about suddenly becomes must haves)

Yes he’s gonna speak 4 sentences instead of 3. I don’t think anything would change from previous 2 movies, and I’m ok with it. They had 2 full movies worth of opportunity to flash him out, but they never used it, so I doubt it.

at best, what he did on rainbow rocks was to give twilight more anxiety problems. of course you can chalk that up to the dazzlings hate magic but it’ll be hilarious to see people give everyone else a pass but flash going aggro is all him.
