I would like to wonder aloud what was stopping them from doing that in the first place(guessing it was the mulched Everfree slurry they needed).
We literally see the vines and animals tearing up all the construction equipment and park structures in the last part of comic.
Some people sure like to complain about the oddest things.
“ We now have to accept that the always mysterious forest actually is “controlled” by deers inside of it, and also that among the ruins of the castle, you know have ruins FREAKING ROLLERCOASTERS because “themeparks are funny”.”
Where do we get the idea that the Everfree is mysterious from? From ponies, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash, specifically, to whom the idea of the natural world even having a semblance of independence from pony guidance is such a frightening idea that they would not think twice about exploring the matter further. And even if they didn’t find the idea so revolting, they aren’t inquisitive ponies who would delve into a topic just to learn about it for its own sake, i.e. Twilight, so it’s really no surprise that they nor ponies in general would not know about the deer, and thus the forest would appear to have a life of it’s own.
I’m pretty sure the theme park would decay and get swallowed up the forest pretty quickly.
Understandably frustrating and a reason a lot of people would be turned off by the premise.
Though I’m aware of the contradiction, it doesn’t bother me as much due to Everfree’s mysterious nature. It’s not as structured as the rest of Equestria and I’ve always viewed as the source of many surprises. The deer can manipulate the Forest, yet I’m not sure how much they manage it day-to-day as the ponies do their own land and weather.
I stick mostly to the concept of separate canons for the show and the comics, so I don’t expect to see Thicket’s residents anytime soon.
Unless they want Blackthorn to make an appearance and be a badass again. Totally on board with that.

Whew! I’m so glad you still enjoy this comic.
And the comic can still be enjoyable despite Well-To-Do’s role.
I prefer to focus upon Blackthorn, who has indeed become my favorite deer. Move over, Bambi!
If Blackthorn should ever hold a coup d’état, I would offer my full support!
Well, yeah. Well-To-Do is a cardboard villain that serves no purpose in the grand adventure story lines. I accept that fact and I have no reason to deny it.
And a solid black panel has never been so satisfying.
Yet it’s not because I loved-to-hate Well-to-Do. I’m just glad he’s out of the picture. Not triumph. Only blissful silence.
Plus, I don’t have to type as many hyphens after this.
I have to agree that WTD was really a cardboard villain at the end of the day. Compare at least to the Cattle Rustlers, who while still stereotypical, had some more attributes that made sense in Equestria. WTD is almost an alien character to the Equestria world given what we’ve seen, a random human real estate mogul transplanted.
Seeing him get his earned fate, yeah, that’s fine, but I’d rather have seen there be a better reason for why he was destroying the forest than just “I have to built it to get rich”. That type of villain doesn’t really fit here, in the grand adventure stories.
(And arguably, this could have simply been Twilight and FS from the ponies, the other 4 were comic relief for all purposes. You needed Twilight to be the “you can’t do that in Equestria” rule-enforcer, and FS to be the beast master. That’s it. )
…………………At least Well-to-Do gets eaten by the Hydra.
I still like the deer, and Blackthorn has become my favorite character of this arc.
Yet I was uneasy at the end of the last issue as Well-to-Do was set up as the true antagonist, and that continued this issue. I just don’t find his attitude funny. He can’t even hide behind the clueless businessman archetype as he starts resorting to abduction and blackmail. Is he meant to be a joke or is he meant to be dangerous? I’m getting mixed signals.
No, I’m afraid this second half of this comic is more frustrating for me. Yet does my enjoyment dictate your own? I certainly hope not!
Please, I’m begging you, don’t tell me you don’t like issue 28! You thought the issue before this one was okay, didn’t you? Surely you’d think the same with THIS issue!
I’m trying to figure out why he doesn’t appeal to me. It might be the contrast between “invasion of mysterious forest” and “corporate idiot wants to bulldoze.” One definitely sounds more intriguing than the other.
His straw-man presentation just doesn’t make me laugh. I’m not finding the charm.
He’s just asking to get impaled by Aspen.
