Pinkie Pie is to Brock because Brock uses Rock-type Pokemon, and Pinkie lived on a rock farm when she was younger; Rarity is to Misty because Rarity values her beauty and beautiful is the contest category of most Water-type moves, and Misty uses Water-type Pokemon.

I tried matching ponies to GL based on personalities or just color scheme.
Rainbow to Lt. Surge (personality, lightning bolt cutie mark)
Fluttershy to Erika (personality and type)
Applejack to Koga (personality)
Twilight to Sabrina (personality and type)
Big Mac to Blaine (color red)
Trixie to Giovanni (personality)

Pinkie and Rarity were the only ones that were a stretch or no match at all
