The letters already there are G g l e. What do people commonly refer to as zero? O(pronounced like “oh”). What’s missing? The two o’s.
 
This is Equal Starlight, and her position is roughly in-between where the two O’s would be. And as anybody can tell you. Zero=Zero. So Starlight being where she is makes perfect sense. It’s a very subtle math equation, not just a random picture.

This uses the old Google logo as base. The new one have the letters’ proportions changed slightly, the serif on the “G” is cleaner, and the “e” is considerably different.
