A number of writers for many properties have made such statements: “I can’t allow myself to read the fanfiction, at least until the series ends. If even subconsciously I used an idea similar to one from a fanfic writer, the studio could get sued.” Etc. The Foglios have made such a statement about Girl Genius fanfiction, and so on.
Yup, not only does Sibsy hang around fandom sites from time to time, but she is also marrying a fan!
Right on, and I think that’s the ‘catch’. If I were a DHX writer, I’d stay away from many Pone sites, e.g. FIMFiction. Not to be mean, but to “professionally ensure” that my work wasn’t influenced by outside sources.
I am trying hard to remember which MLP writer said something explicitly to do with this very subject…. GAH!!! If I remember I’ll be sure to post.

What would make it great would be if Rainbow Dash was totally oblivious that anything was different about her. XD
As far as I know, DHX and Hasbro can’t really stop them from reading, watching or hanging out with anybody…
They just can’t take someone else’s creative work, like a fan fiction, and incorporate it into the show without going through all of the proper legal channels first.
An interesting prospect, but I think it might conflict with their contracts, if not their work ethics. IMO, it’s along similar lines of why the show’s writers can’t read fanfics.
I’m not saying they don’t, but I would find their presence here quite surprising. It’d still be interesting to get their reaction(s) to this specific animation derp, though.
What if the DHX staff have user accounts here just so they could follow how people react to their show?
I never noticed that Rainbow Dash animation error until now… I’ll take the advice on not sleeping.
