I feel as if the in your face writing of this ability comes across as the writers exaggerating it out of annoyance toward most of the fandom because they thought G4’s earth ponies never had unique magic abilities beyond super strength. Which I think only ended up causing most of the fandom to think absolutely any form of plant-related magic in general is “original” to G5.
Why did G4 in its entirety relegate the earth ponies’ plant-growing magic to rarely-seen unimportant background details?
This was literally the only instance I remembered of any type of special magic from earth ponies that isn’t either super strength or “Pinkie Pie don’t question it”.
The next alicorn has gotta be AJ. She’s got earth pony magic nailed to the same degree that Twilight has unicorn magic down. What could the next step up from this be but goddess of the harvest?
I really want one of those Equestrian saddle bags that’s so much bigger on the inside.

For one being able to grow food in a strictly herbivore society is the greatest power. Not all power has to be in your face fantastical. This guy points uses of magic systems nicely.

It was already implied but not as in your face as G5 wants it to be.

That’s what flower pots are for.
Dirt which beautiful flowers grow out of.
Silly stick-heads don’t appreciate floral decor!
How about when Aloe said “I hate when he does that”, make a good reaction.
Didn’t I already do that one? (>>871601)
I’d like to see Spike being picked up by Snowflake’s pecs.
Not a whole lot in this episode stands out, for me. Kinda dry.
If not, I think I’ll be done for the while.
