I cracked up laughing at the middle panel with Firefly. Holy hell, that is so cheesy.

Oh, man, the latest pages of the original comic are While Derpy wasn’t directly assaulted against her will, she was still tricked into sleeping with him. On top of that, she’s underage, compared to the guy. Therefore, it does count as statutory rape.

Was that “kicked away” part supposed to be an abortion joke?

You can say the same about semi-grimdark, but us admins don’t agree on that one (hence why I’m not putting it back; I am not comfortable saying this image is or is not semi-grimdark); we do agree on suggestive, so suggestive it must remain.

Why is this tagged as ‘suggestive’? There is nothing suggestive if you don’t know the context. Even with the context it’s just a blurred memory, but tagging it as ‘suggestive’ or ‘nsfw’ is a bit too much in my opinion.

I actually thought it was one of the best parts about the comic. But notably, I don’t like most of the rest of it for being too predictable, light-hearted, and, consequently, boring to me. Thus, it does seem that it’s a massive tone dissonance that compromises the appeal to the otherwise intended audience.

i am sticking with it but man that subplot is far too real for an otherwise light comic about the underdog and high school crap.  
it is like a huge iron ball sitting on a cake.

I don’t think it was rape, personally. He was a jerk that let her get a little drunk, but she had only half a glass before they went at it. Notice that she’s only traumatized because she finds out about him and RD (the implication being she wanted to date him, but was crushed to find out he’s after just any mare).
 
 
And this is why semi-grimdark is a nasty rating to handle.

Looking at the actual page, it seems more like he was just a jerk. Derpy came home happy ‘til he found out from Firefly what had happened with Dash; she thought he’d cared for her until then.

Pretty much the reason I bailed on this comic series, It’s a great comic but maybe that’s the problem; It’s a little too well written.  
It hits an Uncanny valley from Drama and unpleasantness.

in the comic during the high school prom/gala thing dash did not have a date so her friend found an older, like collage or whatever, unicorn to fill in for it, he tried to blackmail dash into sex, she ends up escaping thanks to her friend firefly but it is shown that he, pokey, then found derpy on his way home, sweet talked up, filled her with alcohol and had his way with her, rape.  
she was already a social outcast and the first guy to ever show kindness and a bit of attraction and he uses her for her fucking body…the worse thing? the comic is clearly foreshadowing derpy is pregnant with dinky on top of all that.
 
this subplot is so fucking real and heavy and it makes me so angry, so very fucking angry.
