Nopony really talked about the empty house at the top of the hill. The cottage had been devoid of owners for many years; nopony in town could remember the last time the grime-smeared, cobweb-covered windows had been lit. Children still whispered to one another tales of ghosts and revenants that wandered within the brick walls. To hear the foals say it, almost half of the town’s inhabitants had walked into the cottage, some on a dare, some out of curiosity, and never came out again.

So when Night Glider, Sugar Belle, Party Favor, and Double Diamond visited the small hamlet on a trip from their own village, they couldn’t help but be a little intrigued by the tales, especially when they heard that there had been a recent rash of rumors that a strange figure had been seen wandering around the abandoned cottage.

“Are you sure that this is a good idea, Night?” Sugar whispered to her friend as they walked up the pathway to the faded doorway, their path illuminated by moonlight. “Maybe we should’ve gotten Party and Diamond to come with us.”

“Eh, if they want to be chicken, that’s their choice,” Night shrugged. “Me, I want to check this place out.”

She pushed against the door, finding that it was unlocked. The door swung open slowly with a great creeeeaaaak of rusty hinges, admitting the two mares entry into the main hallway. The walls and floors were bare, save for the dust that rose with every hoofstep.

“Hello-o-o-o!” Night called out. The only answer was the echo of her own voice.

“Night, I don’t like this,” Sugar whimpered, intimidated by the dark, bare room. “We should go back—”

Her protest was cut off by the sound of the door slamming shut behind them. Both of them whirled around, but it was already too late. Several long coils of rope flew out of the shadows and begin to wrap themselves around Night Glider and Sugar Belle, binding their hind legs together and their front hooves behind their backs.

“H-hey!” Night shouted, trying to fight off the bonds even as they tightened about her, securing her wings to her sides.

“Help! Help!” Sugar screamed at the top of her lungs, but was silenced by a length of cloth that wrapped itself tightly over her mouth. Another cloth gagged Night as well. Both mares were lifted up and placed on the floor of the empty sitting room, up against the wall.

“I was hoping that your two friends would come, too,” a voice rose from out of the darkness. “No matter; I’ll get to them eventually.”

Night and Sugar’s eyes widened and they both let out a muffled cry of surprise; they knew that voice.

Starlight Glimmer, their village’s exiled leader, strode forward, her horn alight and her face split into an evil smirk. She looked down at her two captives: Sugar Belle trembling in fright, Night glaring in a mixture of defiance and fear as she fought against her ropes.

“In the meantime,” Starlight continued, levitating out a bunch of feathers. “It’s time for a little payback.”

Both mares desperately shook their heads, protesting through their gags, but there was nothing they could do. In minutes, the hallways of the abandoned cottage were filled with the sound of muffled giggles, squeals, and pleas for mercy, a sound that would continue long into the night…

Victim of Thanos
@bAv_DB
Well, if it’s tied tightly enough around the victim’s mouth, it’s possible it would shut them up just like that. If you ask me, the ones that look like bandannas are really weird. Imagine a cowboy having one over his face and yet, he would still be talking normally, but when you find someone tied up and looking like they’re wearing a bandanna, you get muffled, incoherent mumbles. It just never made sense to me that this thing can be used as both a mask and a gag.

It always irked the hell out of me whenever a character had a meager cloth wrapped around the lower half of their face and then BAM, they’re unable to talk. To be frank I don’t even see why people do it that way at all, when even the most basic way would be to have the cloth stuffed into their mouth , similar to a ball gag or something similar.
