Like the main six in the first two seasons…..Actually, RD and Rarity seem to be that still. They don’t really det along or share much of screen time together and wouldn’t hang out except in group outings.

……..Wow, I can’t believe I agreed with you. It’s nice that they had him in the episode, but yeah…I don’t see why the main six can’t bring Spike along….or anyone really. The show does seem to paint them as the only clich. Which makes me wonder if they had any friends before this. I mean, surely they had some other ponies to hang out with and stuff.
Well, we have the spa twins and Rarity but not much else.
Though again, I think Spike chose not to come. Rainbow was a bit speciest and isn’t exactly a friend to him. More aquantances.

Besides being infatuated with Rarity Spike only really good friends with Twilight Sparkle. Spike is probably for the most part friends by association with the others.
I guess that makes sense; they could afford to place him in a few more of the group scenes, especially since it seems like the only times he’s really around and important are any time an episode focuses around Twilight.
I don’t identify with him all that much - moreso with Fluttershy though I hate it - but I can see where you’re coming from.
At lest you have a reason beyond Spike just not being there and not one of the he guys that try demonize everyone in the show’s staff jest because Spike isn’t the always in the spotlight.
Only the episodes/scenes that rally together everyone but Spike and sell the idea that he’s the “optional” character…episodes like “Wonderbolts Academy” and “The Last Roundup” where the bond between the mane six grows stronger without him. I realize the point of the show is to sell the mane six as a toy set, but it’s demoralizing to be constantly told that one of the two characters I identify with isn’t as important as the rest of his friends, and doesn’t need to be around while they’re all growing closer.
Thanks for not jumping down my throat like most people do. I love derpibooru, and desperately want to avoid getting banned over a “drama in the comments” tag.
Wait… let me get this straight: you’re pretty much mad at any episode that has a scene that doesn’t contain Spike? I mean… it’s kind of an odd way of looking at it, but that sounds like what you’re saying; we’ve had episodes showing Spike as being more a part of the group and he doesn’t need to play a role in every episode or show up in every scene the Mane 6 are in.
For me, MLP stops being likable when the mane six are portrayed as a complete and exclusive group of friends in which Spike doesn’t belong. Is the show about friendship or just friendship between ponies?
At least he didn’t get stuck in a room with a bunch of mares crying.

Yes, she broke a wall inside of the show itself, which is clearly a witticism on her normally breaking the imaginary “fourth wall.” In this case, she broke a physical wall that could relatively be the fourth in a room, instead of an imaginary wall that only we (and Pinkie) can perceive.

No, not the fourth wall. She broke an internal-to-the-story wall. As Bumbles said, the third wall.
Pretty sure it was temporary. Makes more sense that Twi cast it again than a spell like that lasting so long.
