The best part is it’d be totally in character if like  
Twilight was reading the Equestria-world equivalent of Game of Thrones, because she’s a book nerd, and she’d have quotes from the books primed to use in case the situation came up  
and then the situation comes up and like  
she’d be thinking  
“Oh my gosh I’m going to make a REFERENCE to this BOOK!”
 
And you can imagine her going up to ponies at parties afterwords and trying to explain the reference to them  
and none of them would get it because none of them had read the books and there’s not TV in the horse universe ergo no popular TV adaptation.

Personally, I laughed. The reference was so unexpected, so outdated, and delivered so seriously that it looped around to being funny again.

When twilight said thd line, it went though my head, it wasn’t until i read Internet comments that i learned it was a GoT’s quote, i am damn the same happened to 80% of the viewers.

Ok guys. I can’t be the only one who cringed super hard during the episode when that moment came on. It felt like
