Darkness=Light.
It’s like Yin and Yang.
If it had said that, I would have been perfectly fine with it. It’s the use of light and darkness as good and bad things (respectively) that I take some issue with.
I don’t mean to start a debate, though, so can we just leave this lie there?
But Celestia as the ‘teacher’ plays a role that also adheres to the metaphysical properties of the light. Considering how it follows ‘hatred v love’ I’d pose that the light and darkness being mentioned is as much an internal light sweeping away darkness (I.E enlightenment, the removal of veils) as it is physical.
I.E: ‘You can’t sweep away ignorance with more of the same, only knowledge can do that.’
But that’s metaphysical. I’m talking physical. I know our idioms and language have been influenced by the fact that most humans are diurnal and prefer light, but I still (somewhat irrationally) take issue with assertions that darkness is in some way bad and that light is inherently a good thing.
This is coloured slightly by the fact that I can’t see when the sun is out unless I’m wearing sunglasses, and even then I might have to squint, so I actually see better at night than during the day.
We could all live under the limited cover of torches or stars, blindly groping into the veil that surrounds.. or pull it aside to see the full picture.
There’s a reason it was called the ‘enlightenment’.
