That is a nice idea – it seems that inspiration, for the really dedicated or skilled, can be from anywhere, even pathetic things such as the Equestria Girls franchise. I wish you the best in continuing your lovely Safhirim!

EqG, with a lot of science fiction, also inspired me to write about a similar race of humanoids created from plant DNA as slaves and living toys. Their owners sometimes tortured them and caused them to become sadistic murderers for their amusement, until they were liberated by some guerrillas who caused them to kill and eat their makers.

They later became a warmongering empire (known as Ontemazei) bent on punishing other civilisations for their atrocities, and as they became more hateful they became more barbaric, priding themselves in eating their enemies. That caused other civilisations to stereotype Ontemazei as cannibalistic monsters and pink/purple-haired bogeymen, enslaving or torturing those miserable EqG-like humanoids under their control as if they were “worse than animals”.

Their culture resembles something like a mixture of Javanese, Thai, Hittite, and Japanese cultures, like the spacefaring, gryphon-worshipping Vozonids who “civilised” or exploited them. Sometimes, I depict them as ruthless monsters with faces as beautiful as Elves’, and sometimes I pity them and think of their love of beauty, plants, classical mythology and literature, and art.

It also seems fun to imagine their reactions to stereotypes of themselves, which range from disappointment from others’ ignorance, to subversion with satires or drama (e.g. civilised vs cannibal Ontemazei, tragic villains, etc.). If they were to watch Equestria Girls, they would be disgusted by its “cheap” aesthetics and its high school culture. They would consider some main charactrers (especially Twilight and Flash Sentry – Sunset would be depicted as a sun goddess) to resemble miniature versions of their gods or heroes, and use them as comedic “average Joes/Janes” to make fun of their own society’s problems.

What do you think of those ideas?

Hmm very interesting, I like where you’re going with this. I personally see them as Adepts (in my IP which is FICTION, dunno why the heck I went and acted like it was reality, Adepts were a human-like race from which regular humans were created and no, not all regular humans are bad.)

But funny you mention plant people and space elves. Because another race of mine were heavily inspired by EqG, Winx and Monster High design-wise, and they also happen to be space elf plant-people. Only they aren’t plants at all, they are magically-animated living dolls whose synthetic parts were created from the wood and leaves of a magical tree. They possess angel or fairy-like wings for flight (well, the girls do, still on the fence about the guys,) but I think they have more in common with fairies than with elves or angels, because their culture and everything about them is intentionally very silly. They are called Safhirim (singular Safhira,) and I cross them over a lot with ponies.

Their “fantasy counterpart culture” is comically-modern and based upon upper-class American suburbs. Hence they’re a bunch of space-elven yuppies and valley girls. I have a LOT of fun drawing them.

I often like to think of EqG humans as space elves or dryads. Perhaps that can explain their affinity for magic or their weird hair and skin (their resemblence to plant colours would suggest that they are a species of plant aliens).

Well, I am sure that I am more crazier than BP or you – I sometimes like to imagine EqG human(oid)s as barbaric villains, as if they were corrupted Elves with hearts and minds as cruel and savage as a horde of cannibalistic Orcs. Perhaps their enemies think that the horde of EqG savages would be a punishment from God or their gods, who knows?

It would also be fun to think of their dilemma, between embracing and returning to their innate love of beauty, or succumbing to their destructive, twisted hate.

@Background Human
Humans are grafted devils created from the original Adept man by the evil bigheaded scientist Thanatos and taught by him to subvert, undermine and criticize the original ways, first with Christianity, then with atheism, then with college critical theory and feminism.

But you’re not. EqG humans aren’t humans, they’re Adepts. So they are not grafted devils.

BP’s crazy, I reply with more crazy. The hell did I just write.

As a Christian and an aficionado of history myself, I say that there were heathen cultures that did have a degree of civilisation – from the sun-worshipping Egyptians, Aztecs, and Japanese, to the literature and treasures and lore of the Slavs, Celts, and Germanics. Regardless of what they did, what matters more to me is what they had left behind.

Without them, where did we have our records of history from?

Just googled “neoreactionary movement.” I read a little about it (albeit on Rationalwiki as it was the first link that turned up…needless to say I had to weed through the innumerable biases, ad hominems and typical Rationalwiki intellectfaggotry,) and I can’t say I disagree with a lot of the stuff it’s for. That doesn’t make this meme any less unfunny though.

Also is it just me, or has ever since RR made Sunset into a more well-loved fandom icon people have been using her as a spokeswoman for their various personal opinions/views/preferences/etc.? I think I’ve seen a couple more that do shit like this.
