I thought he always works for free?
I was. This is a part of character, but not in the way you’ve presented.
One of your arguments was “Rainbow Dash.png”, as though you were saying that this is in character for her to be doing this.
“RD’s entire motivation for doing this is selfish, short-sighted, based on really tenuous logic, and made no attempt to find alternatives that wouldn’t make things worse for everybody else except RD and potentially Tank”
That’s why. I was arguing this point.
Then why are you arguing with me, when my whole point is that it would be out of character for PW to represent her when RD’s entire motivation for doing this is selfish, short-sighted, based on really tenuous logic, and made no attempt to find alternatives that wouldn’t make things worse for everybody else except RD and potentially Tank.
“This whole thing is about Phoenix Wright taking Rainbow Dash’s case despite the fact that she’s guilty and her reasons for doing this have tenuous justification at best”
“then why is Phoenix taking the case when RD is not only guilty of the crimes that she would be accused of, but acting like this”
I’m not talking about these things in the Pheonix Wright context I’m talking about them plain-faced.
I figured somebody would draw this eventually!
Because the alternative is to ruin things for everyone else. You cannot go before a court of law and say “I know my actions would ruin things for everyone else and I know did have alternatives, but asking for help is not the sort of thing I’m inclined to do.”
Celestia makes it a point to try connect to the common ponies.
@ColdhardSilver
?? This whole thing is about Phoenix Wright taking Rainbow Dash’s case despite the fact that she’s guilty and her reasons for doing this have tenuous justification at best.
@ColdhardSilver
Okay… then why is Phoenix taking the case when RD is not only guilty of the crimes that she would be accused of, but acting like this IS IN FACT AN ESTABLISHED CHARACTER TRAIT? PW tries to protect the innocent. RD is not innocent. She’s not guilty of any sort of crime that PW’s clients are usually accused of (i.e.: murder), but a lawyer that would get RD off would be the kind of slimy, jerkface weasel that would serve as PW’s narrative foil. The lawyer who despite having guilty clients, gets them off through the abuse of the system.
You want a lawyer who could and would do this? Get Saul from Breaking Bad.
“Crap shoot? A thousand year old individual who has had centuries to make connections can’t find a tortoise-sitter?”
“My entire point is that RD doesn’t have a case that would be done by someone who tries to be as idealistic as Phoenix Wright”
I know that I’m argue the other points.
“Her fears were entirely overblown and she didn’t even consider any solutions that didn’t involve ruining things for everyone else.”
Rainbow Dash.png.
Okay, rewatching that scene, you’re right.
@ColdhardSilver
There was a fair amount of damage to the factory between the discharged lightning bolts hitting the equipment. And even so, they still have to make winter for the towns so Rainbow Dash’s efforts would have to take a more permanent solution.
@ColdhardSilver
Crap shoot? A thousand year old individual who has had centuries to make connections can’t find a tortoise-sitter? Is Equestria really that much of a crudhole? Hell, have Celestia set him up a greenhouse under her own supervision in Canterlot, which is a mere hop skip and a jump away for someone like Rainbow Dash.
My entire point is that RD doesn’t have a case that would be done by someone who tries to be as idealistic as Phoenix Wright. Her fears were entirely overblown and she didn’t even consider any solutions that didn’t involve ruining things for everyone else.
“Dragon Quest disagrees with you. She teleported from the Dragon migration endpoint all the way back to Ponyville.”
No she didn’t, it’s not even implied that she did. She just teleported to the edge of the forest.
“So it is better to ruin things for the entire rest of Equestria than it is to inconvenience Dash for a few months?”
“ruining winter for the entire remainder of Equestria.”
No it didn’t. Winter is made in turns so it isn’t an urgency, all they need is more water and to fix the cloud horn.
“Oh surely Princess Celestia knows someone trustworthy whom they could set Tank up with”
…So your point was based on a crap shot?
My point is that there wasn’t any sort of in-universe urgency for which wrecking the factory is so justifiable that a guy like Phoenix Wright would take the case. He friggin’ uses magic to determine whether or not the person is telling the truth (not a perfect system mind you, but it’s effective most of the time).
@ColdhardSilver
Oh surely Princess Celestia knows someone trustworthy whom they could set Tank up with. It’s certauinly a better than destroying the weather factory and ruining winter for the entire remainder of Equestria.
@ColdhardSilver
So it is better to ruin things for the entire rest of Equestria than it is to inconvenience Dash for a few months?
@ColdhardSilver
Dragon Quest disagrees with you. She teleported from the Dragon migration endpoint all the way back to Ponyville.
“you can’t do that in-universe because Tank wasn’t going to die”
Were they doing that in-show? I don’t see your point.
“Tank would move south for the winter”
Where? with who?
“being incredibly fast”
Still means that she has bolt/or train ride between point A and Point B (round-trip mind you) for 3 months at a time.
“person capable of teleportation across large distances”
People exaggerate Twi’s teleportation and always ask “ugh why doesn’t she just teleport?”
The answer? When has Twilight ever teleported to something that wasn’t within her view? She was only able to teleport great distance when she was powered by the other princesses’ magic, but normally she never teleports to anyplace she can’t see.
Let me rephrase that: While Tank’s hibernation is a metaphor for death for the people watching, you can’t do that in-universe because Tank wasn’t going to die.
Also, I didn’t say she would move out. I said Tank would move out. Tank would move south for the winter, and RD, being incredibly fast and having access to a person capable of teleportation across large distances, would just visit her when she can.
“you can’t claim “it was a metaphor for death!” because Tank wasn’t dying”
What? Yes you can, ever heard of an analogy?
“avoided if she just sent him to a more temperate climate.”
>A main piece of Rainbow Dash is that she never backs down and tries to win it all
>Doesn’t want to ever lose nor lose anyone
>putting her in a situation where she would have to leave her ponyville friends and her job for like 3 months.
That would make the situation worst, silly.
It was…. Tank’s dead twin brother pretending to be Rainbow Dash all along!
Edited
Yeah, you’re right, I just couldn’t think of another lawyer who could take the case and get a “Not Guilty” verdict than Phoenix Wright. It was just a silly idea I drew up without thinking about it too much haha.
Haha, yeah, I drew the eye and had problems with the way it looked. So I thought, “He doesn’t need it right now.”
