Roseluck is about to play the game that was described by host Richard Quest:
“You are about to witness television history!”

The game show mentioned in the quote you just read is 500 Questions. There are a lot of major rules which make this game show distinct from others:
The show is divided up into ten rounds, with 50 questions in each round. Each round has ten categories with five questions each, and each contestant has 10–15 seconds to answer each question (except on Battle questions). The contestant can choose the questions in any order. However, a challenger stands alongside the contestant. Answering a question incorrectly at any point in the game results in a strike. If the contestant receives two strikes (by answering two questions in a row incorrectly), the challenger must then choose the next category in hopes of knocking out the contestant. Any correct answer at any point in the game resets the strike counter.

There are four types of questions:

For a regular question, the contestant must provide the correct answer to the question within the ten second time limit, with multiple guesses allowed. Running out of time on the question is treated as an incorrect answer, and as such, results in a strike. $1,000 is received for every correct answer.
For a Battle question, the contestant and the challenger face off, going back and forth giving correct answers, with the contestant receiving a strike if he/she gives a wrong answer. If the challenger gets a wrong answer, he or she is eliminated from the game.
For a Top 10 question, the contestant must provide five correct answers out of a possible ten, within a 15 second time limit. The contestant can pass this question; however, if the challenger answers the question correctly, this question is treated as an incorrect answer, and as such, results in a strike. If a challenger answers the question incorrectly, the
For a Triple Threat question, the contestant must provide three correct answers within the ten second time limit. If a contestant fails to give the required amount of correct answers within the time limit, he or she receives a strike. $3,000 is received if a contestant gives all 3 correct answers.
If a contestant receives three strikes (by answering three questions in a row incorrectly), he/she is eliminated from the game and is replaced by the challenger. Once a contestant correctly answers the 50th question in a round, the contestant’s money is safe.

A contestant who goes through ten rounds of 50 questions each and does not get more than three answers wrong in a row automatically wins the $1,000,000 grand prize.
