Also most of the minor/BG characters have little to no characterization in canon but are super popular because of the fandom. Like all of the “Background Six” for instance.

You might want to re-watch “Rainbow Falls”. (Plus, there’s the fact that Soarin’ bought the pie when there was food available for free at the Gala; it’s not unreasonable to conclude he likes supporting other ponies’ endeavors.)

Soarin’s only purpose is to make Rainbow Dash straight from time to time, that’s it. Also I second that majority of soarin’ pictures is a bloody soarindash, people just can’t come up with anything to draw with him that isn’t this one overused ship.
