Sure, it will be a very long and painful climb to the top. So, GO!
i think i’m just not as easily affected by the uncanny phenomenon as other people are. also just noticed i forgot to log in for my last comment. whoops
ah well. i’m going to make a few revisions of this and see if i can climb out of the valley
Realism is extremely difficult to pull off.
I mean, holy crap difficult.
If you want to do realistic, it’s probably best to work your way up to it rather than try it right off the bat. And expect to fail. A lot. It’s an extremely long and difficult journey, even more so than cartoon.
That’s why really realistic painters are so rare and expensive and all.
In long and short, yes, it looks creepy, but you should expect it to be ridiculously difficult and take a very, very long time to get good at. Like, years of hard work, not tens of hours. So yeah. Maybe you can do it with less practice, but that’s talent, and that’s very rare.
i’m just going to stop trying to make anything look realistic. too much time wasted to make something that evidently bugs people
I don’t know if freakish was the right word to use, but she definitely falls within the Uncanny Valley for me, and apparently many other people. I can’t pinpoint exactly why this is, but it seems to be the eyes. The rest of her is drawn to look quite realistic, then the eyes are larger than normal eyes, which clashes with the otherwise humanlike face, creating a weird effect which makes her look ‘off’.
does this image look freakish to you too? http://puu.sh/hFDRw/f0e59f7366.png
you’re beginning to make me think that you don’t like what i draw
