Fair enough.
I’m not “trying” to make her a duller character, I’m just looking at how she’s shown in the series. If you want to think of her being like that offscreen, then be my guest, but just don’t say it’s definitely a trait of her show self.
@Background Pony #739D
Why are you trying to make Celestia a duller character. The idea of the austere and benevolent God-Monarch would cope with her isolation and immortality by being a secret Troll makes her interesting.
Yeah, it was the general level of chaos that she successfully pulled off.
Which isn’t much better, really.
We don’t need two people doing that.
Addendum: what Celestia did in the two Galas isn’t even trolling, anyway. She was deriving pleasure from the fact that the Galas were being out of the ordinary, nothing more.
Just because she purposefully set up circumstances so that had a good chance of happening doesn’t make her a troll; she would only fit the definition of troll is her fun was specifically due to the anguish of the high class ponies, which it wasn’t.
Celestia didn’t have a chance to resolve it until she did. Fluttershy panicked and she and Twilight started talking rapid fire. Celestia didn’t really have a chance to say anything without interrupting until she did.
And no, there’s no way that Twilight would ever be able to fake a panic attack like she had in this episode. She’s a barely passable liar, at best. She either never knew about Celestia’s pet, or only saw her pet when it was fully healthy, was never told it was a phoenix, and didn’t know it’s name.
And saying that someone telling someone to stop faking dead is a “troll” is one of the silliest things I’ve read in a while.
I’m fairly sure this was a co-op of Celestia, Philomena and Twilight. Celestia, as always, staying out of focus and immaculate, but she could have resolved it with one or two sentences of explanation and the fact she choose not to hints at the intent. Plus Twilight would surely know about the phoenix… but instead first she hyped Flutters about banishment, and then she began trolling Philomena herself :)
My headcanon is that the three were quite a pranking team back in Canterlot.
Er, huh? It wasn’t Celestia that trolled Fluttershy with Philomena, Philomena did it herself.
And besides, imagine being in her place, an eternal ruler with an unending duty to the whole world… I’d say it’s amazing how she copes with it, and if the pranks and the cake are her way of staying sane, so be it - just think of the possible alternatives.
Some use the meme that way, don’t mean it’s all the meme is as others use it just for her joking around.
Well apparently, it’s canon that stance can wane a bit for a laugh.
@Prof.NightJack
I know. But from what I hear about Trollestia makes it sound like Celestia doesn’t care about anypony else’s well-being and misfortune. The exact opposite of what she stands for.
Hm…Good point on that observation. TOGA, TOGA, TOGA!!!
Sorry about that “TOGA” thing. My bad.
I definitely prefer this one. The colours are more complimentary and the design as a whole is more restrained. Plus it looks like its got some Roman influences to it, which I really like~
Compare that to her crown and coronation gown from Magical Mystery Cure. Not to mention that at least when the Smooze cleaned up his act, literally, Celestia looked like she never got drenched with Smooze slime at all.
This.
I don’t really call her “Trollestia” but what I think of her is a prankster that is along the lines of how some interpret Trollestia, mostly harmless with her tricks.
You know that not everyone with a Trollestia head canon thinks of her as a sociopathic, Joker-esque Tyrant, right?
She sure was! I thought it was hilarious. :D
Fuck me. Such a nice birthday present….
@Red-Supernova
Yes, she was, and yes, we are. I’ve been saying Trollestia is canon since “A Bird In the Hoof”.
Blame the show, it started it and made it relevant again.
Goddammit. People are seriously digging that up again?!
