Yeah, like BGP said you’re mixing up two different continuities this artist has with their characters. That was the dark future AU where Spike dies (and Fluttershy loses her eyes, AJ a leg, Rarity horribly burned etc). Obviously a different continuity than this one where they grow older and start families together. Spikes alive in that one same as the others.
You’re mixing the dark future story au with the next generation. They are completely unrelated, Spike is alive in the next gen au.
Oh yeah, that……le sigh I like this artist’s work, but not exactly all the choices.
I can’t remember where I read it, but spike died a hero. He sacrificed himself to bring a castle down on himself and a changeling hive along with their queen so his friends can escape.
